I have had at least two occasions where I manually unselected the A/C so that the amber light was out, but A/C was definitely on anyway blowing very cold air through the vents. Regardless of those indicator lights, A/C can still be activated by the car. I tend to micro manage the system for our everchanging southern California weather...50 degrees in the morning, and near 100 in the afternoon. I miss the days in my old 85 Taurus that had 3 easy to use and understand dials: Fan speed, temperature, and direction.

What probably happened is that battery pack cooling was in effect. Since it uses the same compressor, you ended up with some unintended cooling. I just modify the temperature set point to get desired air flow. You can always modify the level of auto to help mitigate things, too.
