Hi Guys:

I need to replace the broken repeating turn signal assembley on the side mirror.

I managed to take off the mirror cap but, in order to access the screw holding the repeater assembley in place, I have to remove the bottom plastic housing of the mirror, also.

I have spent hours looking over and over it but I cannot see the clips or screws that hold the bottom section in place.

Has anyone else done this or any Ford bodyshop employees that can shed some light on this for me?

Removing the mirror glass may also work, instead of removing the whole bottom section but I don't know how to do that either, without breaking the glass!

Thanks, so much.

Removing the mirror glass is fairly easy. Many of us here have done so in order to replace the factory glass with the SUMA mirrors ( #1 ) that give a better view and eliminate the blind spot on the drivers side. The proper way is to move the mirror in and up ward and use a thin screwdriver to pry between the mirror and backing plate it is attached to. It's held on by plastic clips. I've done a few and most the time I just grab the mirror when it is in that position and rip it off. Sometimes a clip on the mirror breaks off but I'm installing new mirrors anyway so it doesn't matter to me. If you happen to remove the mirror and do break a clip, I have spare mirrors that are in perfect condition I can send you. All of that said about mirror removal, below is from the repair manual about mirror disassembly.
