Just to play devils advocate - pre warming my car cabin and battery is a wonderful feature. We like to walk out to a ready to drive vehicle based on a known timeline.I don’t have a regular schedule and have never preconditioned my ER battery. If EVs are ever going to be mainstream drivers are going to treat them like transportation and not worry about tricks to get an extra 10% here and there. Kind of reminds me of the old days when people had to warm up their ICE cars before driving them.
ICE also like being warm which is why we have coolant bypass. It’s also not good for ICE engines to go full throttle (esp with Turbos) when cold but people do it.
I agree that current mindset people want to treat EVs exactly like ICE and why some don’t adopt. Just not sure the mindset should not change. For my family - we like what we have changed to.
