I don’t have a regular schedule and have never preconditioned my ER battery. If EVs are ever going to be mainstream drivers are going to treat them like transportation and not worry about tricks to get an extra 10% here and there. Kind of reminds me of the old days when people had to warm up their ICE cars before driving them.
Just to play devils advocate - pre warming my car cabin and battery is a wonderful feature. We like to walk out to a ready to drive vehicle based on a known timeline.

ICE also like being warm which is why we have coolant bypass. It’s also not good for ICE engines to go full throttle (esp with Turbos) when cold but people do it.

I agree that current mindset people want to treat EVs exactly like ICE and why some don’t adopt. Just not sure the mindset should not change. For my family - we like what we have changed to.

Cabin and departure preconditioning is different and less necessary than fast charger preconditioning. I have a scanner fob and Car Scanner App and one of the metrics I watch is battery max charge. I also watch battery temp and inlet battery coolant temp. It looks like highway driving and the car nav app will be sufficient to get to 100 kW most of the time. Would be nice to have manual battery preconditioning for -30 days but really, I go from home to destination AC charging when it’s like that ?. I do use the departure times and have them set for twice a day for my long commute. Station Service power on one end and better garage heating on the other until Spring comes, then I’ll turn it off.

One other take on this is if you have a GT/GTPE there is a huge difference in performance. Don't precondition gets lota of jail bars in the cold.
Way too true.
