This function has worked this way for many, many years on Ford vehicles.

It seems to me that letting it stay on recirculate indefinitely would be helpful for winter driving to prevent the car from constantly pulling in freezing cold air that needs lots of energy to warm up 🤷🏼‍♂️

The HVAC update will help with the recirc behavior. It will still shut off if it gets too humid in the cabin, but seems to work longer.
@Mach-Lee ,

You said "The HVAC update...". Are you thinking of a specific update that has already come out, or is there one on the way that you're thinking of?

If it's one that's already out, could you share which one so @SightUp can check to see that he/she has it?

I asked my dealer recently about the HVAC having a mind of its own, especially on start up (my AC would not be how I left it when I turned the car off) and they said you have to keep it on AUTO for it to save your choices. I hate using AUTO for climate controls so this was not a fix for me
Plus I think the dealer was full of it.

But then people would blame Ford when their windows fogged up.

I read through that whole thread. There doesn't seem to be anything related to Recirculation. I think you were the last poster on that thread and the update appeared to be related to heating.
Those of us that have done it, it does appear to leave recirc on for much longer. Mine used to turn off very shortly after getting into my car, now it stays on for the entirety of my short trip to work (20 to 25 minutes).

Recirc and e-heat seem to remember my preference better. I leave the A/C on auto 1, and after setting recirc on and e-heat off probably 2 times, it now stays that way and is like that every time I get into my car. Prior to the update, recirc would always default to off and e-heat to on when I would start the car.
