I recommend asking your insurance agent / broker before buying any car. With the VIN, they can quote precisely what your rate will be. This should be part of every car shopping comparison before you buy. (But don't spam your agent with 10 car choices; just the 1 or 2 that you're seriously ready to buy.)

We have 40% uninsured in the area. Some people around here believe that it is fine to drive a car without insurance for 2-3 months. I have seen many expired very old paper tags in Texas.
How does that work out for the victims they paralyze in a crash?

$108/ month for ‘22 premium with $250/500k limits and $500 deductible. Policy is bundled with other condo, umbrella and personal effects insurance.

Also, mid forties couple with good credit, no accidents or tickets (except camera-generated ones, I keep a tab open for those).

Friends in Seattle are paying about $300 +/- a month for their Tesla 3, almost double what a 'normal' car costs. Going on line I see that Mach-Es are $30-50 more a month. Does that square away with what members here are paying?

We pay $2185 per year with AAA in Arizona for two cars, a 2022 Mach E GTPE and a 2022 Subaru Outback XT Touring. $1k deductible. Two drivers, both over age 60.

I appreciate all the replies. It appears that MMEs will not have a huge insurance cost over other cars. I will follow the suggestion to submit the VIN to my insurance company before I buy.

No, that is for 6 months. Monthly is $155 for both vehicles. The GT portion would be $47. Living outside the city and 40
Years driving with no accidents or tickets may have something to do with it.

I got geico, the car I traded on my 21 mache premium was an alfa giulia, I don't recall a significant increase in premium. I just got my 23 gtpe and premium went up about $100 for six months. so around $465 every six months.

I have insurance through Costco. My 21 MachE Select is $1,000/yr, so is my wife's 21 Ford Edge. $1,000 deductibles, full coverage. No tickets or accidents. Bundled with home and umbrella policies.
We're both seniors, me a little more senior than her.

Most of the stories that I have heard are hit and run. Hit and literally ran (total a stolen car). Hit and trying to run in front of the policemen who were on the scene for another accident. Hit, gave a phone number and then ran (close the phone account). Hit, waited for police and ran (gave old insurance to the police).

It is going to be tough for the victims.

Insurance costs can be a real pain sometimes. I’ve had a bit of a struggle with it myself. One thing I found helpful was checking out https://www.insurancecloud.co.uk/services/gap/ . They’ve got a ton of options and can sometimes find deals that you might not spot elsewhere. It’s worth looking at them if you’re trying to find something more affordable. It’s always a good idea to compare quotes and see what different providers offer. Sometimes, you can get a better rate by shopping around. I know it’s a hassle, but it can pay off in the long run.
