I'm getting the error below: "Intelligent Cruise Control Speed Sign Recognition not available" whenever I turn on ICC. Adaptive Cruise Control works just fine. The error started about 10 days and unlike other bugs did not clear up after the car went to sleep. Also unlikely to have been caused by or solved by 1.7.1 OTA - started about a week before my car received 1.7.1 and the update did not clear it up.

Interestingly the camera part of the system works - whenever I pass a speed sign, it reads it and the speed limit shows on the display (although it not longer adjusts the ICC speed to match it). However, I'm pretty sure it previously used a database of speed limits to augment the camera (I remember the speed limit being updated whenever I would get on a new road before any sign was in visual range) - this part is no longer working - only visually recognizable speed limits show up in the display.

Another potentially related issue I just noticed today is that the native Ford Navigation app doesn't work - it loads and crashes. I use CarPlay for navigation so didn't notice it until I tested today on a whim - not sure how long that's been issue and whether it's related to the ICC issue.

Curious if anyone has seen a similar issue or has ideas for a "self-service" solution. Next step for me is contacting Ford and taking it to a dealer, but wanted to check first if there's an easy solution that would avoid that trip.

You likely need the IPMA update there is an TSB for posted above.

You could always try pulling the neg battery cable.

Can you PM me your VIN so I can look at the codes?

Seems to be a rash of this error popping up lately. @Murse-In-Airy and his wife's car for sure and I seem to remember seeing some others. ??

I don’t know if it’s incidental, or not, but my car sent me a notification that I received powerup 1.7.1 update at about the same time my error showed up last night.
Wife’s car still have hasn’t gotten the OTA 1.7.1

Sorry for the double post. When I last checked last weekend, only thing that popped up was the same dormant August post.

I don't believe it's related to 1.7.1 - error started about a week before I got the OTA.

@Murse-In-Airy - do you use the Ford native GPS app? Does it still work for you? Curious if my issues with it are related or an entirely separate bug.

I generally don’t use the Ford navigation. But I will certainly check it out when I get home from work in a couple days.

Just checked. When trying to use the Ford Native navigation, it starts up, shows a Garmin loading screen. Goes to the map showing my location, then shuts down.

I'm getting similar behavior. Sometimes it shows the location. Sometimes shuts off even beforehand. Sounds like our cars have the same disease. I'm gonna take it in next week. When are you taking yours to the dealer?

Hello everyone from rainy Switzerland! On my way to Italy, and after 4k kilometers (most of it on highways), the exact same happened to me. Up until now, I was actually amazed how good the speed sign recognition worked, and today it just messed everything up. Especially the sign that 'cancels' the previously set limit (grey diagonal line, ), this would take me back to 60 from 100 or more, so, very bad..... In the middle of the way, although I use Google maps, I noticed that my Navi also was not working, at all, just being stuck on a random place far away and not moving with the car, obviously. So, has anyone had it fixed already?? Any ideas or news on it?? For the record, also, suddenly, my FordPass app stopped working too..... Bad, really bad..

Have your dealer perform TSB21-2249

I'm gonna take it in next week. When are you taking yours to the dealer?
I’m sure you’re dying to know. So…
Took the red MME to the dealer this morning. It’s still there.
When I called to make the appointment, I told them I needed TSB 21-2249. I also asked them to check SSM49676 (door locks).
This morning when I dropped the car off I reiterated the same numbers.
Today, 7 hours after I dropped the car off I called to ask what was up. They explained that the car wasn’t throwing any codes so they were waiting on someone at Ford to call them back. I asked if they had gone through the TSB I directed them to and they couldn’t answer. Kept saying that the car was all up to date and therefore they didn’t know what was wrong. So I asked if they had updated the car to software version 1.7.1 as this had fixed the sign recognition problem in mine. They couldn’t answer that either.
I got a call back about 30 minutes later telling me that the car does fall under TSB 21-2249 but it will take until after close of business today to complete the update. So they’ll start it tomorrow.
This really chaps my ass. I took the car to them at 8:30 AM. I told them what to do. They started from scratch and ignored my suggestions and came up with exactly NOTHING. Rather than contact me, they left a message at Big Blue and waited for a call back. They may have had my car for a week without doing anything.
I get not listening to every Tom, Dick, and Harry with an internet connection. I’m a nurse. If I listened to everyone with a webMD Doctorate, I’d be killing people right and left. But if someone comes in speaking intelligently about something that I’m new to, I’m going to damn well listen. Give me a ventilator dependent child with a congenital heart condition, and you can bet I’m listening to the parent’s every word about what’s wrong with their child. They know more than me. I should think being a Ford mechanic or service rep staring at a Mach-E would be treated the same.
So, when you go to get your dealer to fix your speed sign recognition problem, perhaps print out the TSB and take it with you. You might want to make sure there aren’t any words over 2 syllables on it first. Or edit it to pictograms.
