Is a screen protector really necessary?

Thanks all. I think I’m going to skip it. I don’t like the look of a matte layer over the screen and since scratching doesn’t seem to be a concern, I’ll just wipe off the prints when my OCD takes over.

I would do one for the "eye nanny". It's made of plastic and not glass. And it scratches easy when wiping it even with a microfiber cloth.

Probably have to "wet" clean it. Spray and wipe. Instead of dry wipe where the dust or debris drag and scratches the plastic.

NOT necessary. I stopped buying screen protectors for iPads and iPhones years ago....

I’ve owned my car for almost two years and I haven’t seen a need for one. Even finger prints aren’t that much of an issue. An occasions cleaning with screen cleaner or lens cleaner takes care of the main screen. I’ve never touched the IP.

By the way, is that the new sync UI? It has a media player window next to the map window, but it also has full-sized cards, and others are reporting that the new UI only has the minimized cards?

Oh! I’ll have to take a look at CarPlay sometime. One other question. What’s the point of all the dirt road driving? Our cars aren’t meant to go off-road and I wouldn’t call those dirt roads “off-road” anyway. Also, I wouldn’t really be driving that fast on the dirt roads around here - most of them are severely washboarded or potholed.

That semi-hidden cubby hole in the front doors tucked in behind main storage area is the perfect spot to stuff a microfiber towel for wiping down the screen, as well as eyeglasses.

We keep one in each front door.

No screen protector needed.
