Today I was able to take an extended test drive of the demo car at my local dealership. One thing I noticed was a slight hesitation followed by a little clunk when the motor engaged after pressing the accelerator pedal. I don't believe it occurred after each stop, but maybe half the time. The car has just under 1k miles on it. I test drove it about a month ago on a very brief drive and didn't notice anything at all then so maybe there's been a little wear and tear. It's an awd er, btw. The car felt exceptional other than the clunk. Is this a normal thing?

Of note, at the dealership they keep the demo car continuously topped off at 100% and the tires were inflated to 46psi, lol. I think the range meter was something like 286 miles.

Still waiting on my production date to show up but today's drive confirmed my enthusiasm for this car. Hopefully this Fall sometime. I test drove a 2021 Bolt today to get some perspective and it's not even close. Fun little car, but the Mach E is in a different league entirely.

Only if autohold is active and you are pulling away from a stop because the car will engage the parking brake to do its holding, and you may be feeling the parking brake disengage.

But definitely not if you are already moving and push the accelerator further to go faster.

Ah! I bet that was it. I was one-pedal driving the whole time with autohold engaged. It didn't feel like anything 'bad' was happening but I've felt enough slipped trannies in my day to take notice. Thanks for the clarification.

For what it's worth, that little clunk upon acceleration from standstill is something I pick up on all the time.
And my autohold is set to OFF.

Having driven multiple EVs like Bolt, i3, and a Model 3 and never noticed that, I was concerned enough to test drive another Mach E... which did the exact same thing.

So I'm not worried anymore, just a bit annoyed that I have to put up with it being what it is.
