I'm sure that seems like an odd request. However, I've been considering trading in my '22 GT for a '24 or '25 (if the HVBJB issue ever gets resolved). With trade in values being what they are, I've thought about seeing if either my wife or kids would be interested in driving it. If they were interested, they certainly don't need and actually wouldn't want the acceleration it's capable of. So...

Just wondering if it's possible to "tune it down" to something more along the lines of a Select. Did a quick forum search and didn't see any discussions about it.

You can setup MyKey, but that limits SPEED, not acceleration.

I'm familiar with MyKey and have used it with my oldest kid on a different Ford car when she first got her license. You're right though - it won't restrict acceleration which is one of the things my wife dislikes about the car and certainly something that can get a less experienced driver into trouble.

Whisper mode makes acceleration somewhat more benign but it doesn’t prevent a rocket launch if that’s what they’re after.
I've tried all the driving modes too - not enough difference to matter in this case.

There is no switch that I know of in software (one of the FORscan gurus please correct me if I am wrong). All I can think of is Velcro for installing a mechanical throttle limiter under the go pedal. ??

Maybe instruct the wife and kids that the accelerator pedal is not an "ON/OFF" switch, but rather a throttle switch. Problem solved.

I'm not as concerned about normal driving conditions - it'd be more about situations that might normally be intuitive, like accelerating more than usual to get into the flow of traffic or being surprised by another vehicle pulling out, especially in hazardous road conditions like winter driving. The acceleration this car is capable of could easily result in a rear-end collision or spinout or worse.

Seems like a miss on Ford's part with the MyKey....they should be able to limit power availability, along with Vmax.
You know, it seems like something they could program and then send out OTA. They already have the system in place that throttle's back power represented by the grey bars on the GT power meter/indicator.

OP, save your money and buy this:

And finally, the number one slowest vehicle in America is the soon-to-be-dead Mitsubishi Mirage. It takes you an impressive 12.8 seconds to get from zero to 60 miles per hour in this sad excuse for a passenger vehicle, and it's all thanks to the minuscule 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that only produces 78 hp and 74 lb-ft of torque. It isn't fast, it isn't comfortable, it isn't nice, and it's pretty old. The Mirage won't be missed.
