The car doors won't open nor there is any power anywhere. It may have turned off due to the accident, but not sure if the battery actually got damaged.

The car is worth around $52k, so the car would need slightly more than $40k in damage to be considered totaled.
That's not how insurance works. They look at the vehicle's price at auction vs cost to repair. If they say it's worth 50k, but has 20k in damage, while being able to get 35k at auction, it's totaled.

Based on what I've seen on copart, it's going to auction. If the frame rails are bent at all, it's going to auction. Between all of the parts on that front end -- that's 25-30k in damage easily, plus other things you can't see. The fact it's dead isn't surprising, It got the 12v batt. 12v batt is what turns on the HVB. The damage is deceiving due to it being a pole in the center. It could have shoved the motor into the battery. Are there any internal / cabin deformities?

Just the front end body parts and radar are $5k, motor, inverter, AC charger, DC/DC $10k, AC system $2k, other frame and body related parts $4k, labor $6k.

Yeah, but my insurance adjuster told me the repair has to cost at least 80% of the ACV to be considered totaled, which I thought was crazy high given this kind of damage.

No internal/cabin deformities from what I can see, except for the front airbags and knee airbags deployed on the driver side.

I can't imagine a scenario where that vehicle isn't totalled.

Did the adjuster already look at it?

I never understand these threads. Pictures peer inside frunk, underneath, then often wait for body shop to examine it.

Don't forget nearly $2k apiece for the headlights

Glad she’s ok. Hope the pole at least showed some damage. Damn pole anyway.

I’m going to say NOT totaled just to cash in on the odds and buck the internet warriors.

EDIT: IF it actually did come back not totaled, I wouldn’t want that car. For her sake I hope it is totalled.

And that plus any battery pack damage = new battery pack at $25K + misc bits and pieces (and maybe a new HVBJB!)

Utility Pole is fine cause can be used as firewood. But the car is totaled how ever if you own the title on it you can try to make some money off of by selling parts. Just sayin lol. Then pay to have to send it to a junkyard afterwards. EV parts are very limited right now lol.

My insurance company would total any car that had frame damage. That care definitely has frame damage.

Perhaps if toxic fumes is your idea of a good item for firewood. Might as well burn plastic bags and railroad ties. Utility poles don't last many decades out of chance.

New wrecked cars don't go to junkyards. Shitty old ones do. This is going to copart (google)

No, the adjuster hasn't taken a look at it yet, and will have to wait until at least Monday to see. Obviously I'm only asking because I need to prepare what's going to happen, if I have to shop for cars this weekend since it's my only weekend off this month- curse of being in healthcare.

I don't have time due to work constraints, and was asking if anyone on here had a similar experience and if it is totaled. I believe it is totaled, but my insurance agent said that it would need to be 80% of the ACV to be totaled, but is not able to look at it until next week.

Also, this is more of a therapeutic thread for both of us as well as our journey we would like to share. Obviously my fiancée has gotten through a traumatic experience, and sometimes, we go searching for answers from a recent trauma with no definite answer yet. It's not uncommon. A lot of people can learn from this thread- how many Mach E's have you seen struck a telephone pole dead smack in the center, snapped it with airbag deployment, without ANY damage to inside the cabin- this thread is also an testament how safe the Mach E is.
