Issue w/ Rally Spring Installation

Hello all. I recently brought my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium ER AWD to a Ford dealer to upgrade the coil springs to the ones from the Rally edition. My goal was primarily to increase ride quality and comfort. The rear springs were able to be installed without issue, but I was informed that the front was unable to be installed because of a size mismatch between the spring and the upper strut mount bearing. I was told that the parts department could order the needed parts to make it work, but they quoted a rather large amount for those components. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I would like to get the front springs replaced, but I am unsure how to proceed.

Hey Brad, I see you also posted on Fred's thread about the same issue. They are probably sending the wrong parts. This happened twice to him and after the third time he finally got the correct springs and I installed them. I have installed these Rally springs on every year and model Mach-E from '21 through '25, Select, Premium, CA-Rte 1, GT and GT with magneride suspension and they have fit just fine without any additional parts.

That’s a royal PITA—sorry you had to deal with that. Finding out you’ve got the wrong springs halfway through install is a total ball-buster.


Were the springs labeled with those specific part numbers on the packaging or tags? I get that mistakes happen, but how do they mix up parts if everything’s labeled correctly? Once is an accident, but twice in a row, in the case of Fred, is total carelessness.

I'd like to order a set of Rally springs for myself, but now I'm a little worried about receiving the wrong parts.

How to check whether received correct parts or not ?

There is a manufacturing tag on the springs. On the front Rally springs, the last three letters of the manufacturing number (suffix) ends in ABB for the earlier version, ABC for the current version. For the rear Rally springs, the suffix is ABC for the earlier version and ABD for the current version.

Yes I agree with you Josh. Here is what I think the issue is. After the springs are manufactured, they get tagged with a Manufacturing tag (not a parts tag). Ford's Base part number for ALL the Mach-E fronts springs is 5310. On the manufacturing tag after the base number are three letters which are specific for the model car. I don't think whoever was pulling the parts was looking at those letters. Once they pull the spring from stock, they put a Parts tag on the spring which does not have the suffix manufacturing letters and ship it out.

I have replaced many springs on Mach-E's with Eibach, H&R and Ford springs. I look at the manufacturing suffix letters on the OEM springs and all of the Premiums with AWD/EX have the same ones, the GT's have the same ones, Select with RWD have the same ones, etc. All of the Rally front springs have the suffix ABB on the earlier versions and ABC for the current ones. The rear Rally springs have ABC for the early versions and ABD for the current ones.

Yes, just make sure the manufacturing number on the white tag on the springs have a suffix of ABC for the fronts and ABD for the rears and you should be good.

Hey Greg, I do not know of a specific difference between the two. In the earlier months of installing the Rally springs, I know the rears were ABC and now these past few months they are ABD. Never saw any difference in the spring size or shape. Doesn't mean they didn't change the rate or anything but I'm sure you will be fine. Many times the last number which is the version can also mean they changed vendors. Does not have to mean there is an actual difference in the part.

Hi Greg, thought I would get back to you even though you probably already installed the springs. I found out there is no difference in spring rate from the earlier A version of the Rear Rally springs to the later and current B version.
