I managed to find a dealer that sells Mach E’s off the lot without an up charge. Unfortunately when I went in today the comfort/tech package car I was looking at had been sold the day before. Fortunately they had just gotten the Demo car up over 2k miles so it was available for sale. I was a little concerned about this but its a positive thing in retrospect.
They linked my Ford Pass before I left so I would be able to get some points when the transactions went through. They needed to keep the car to update it and detail it as one of the employees was driving the car around to get the mileage up so they can sell it, the employee had been using it as a daily driver for a couple weeks. I left the dealership at 12:30, at 1:14 I was getting Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power and High-Voltage Battery Warnings. This correlates with the fact that I saw them roll the car back into the shop as I was leaving at 12:30
Now the dealer says that these alerts I received were due to them applying some updates as the prepared the car for delivery. On one hand, if this car wasn’t someone’s daily driver for a couple weeks, I would be extremely concerned. On the other hand I’m now reading people’s experience with this and I’m worried I’ve put a deposit down on a Lemon.
Should I consider not accepting delivery? Anything I can ask the dealer to do to confirm the car is ok before accepting delivery? Is it too much to ask them to look at the battery? It honestly looked like someone was using this car, while it came off as unprofessional I feel like if there were issues with the car they would have declared themselves while this person was commuting to and from work (the same commute I’ll be taking with the vehicle).
