After about a thousand mile road trip we planned our last charge for the last leg home. We pulled into an Electrify America charging station without any issues. We hooked up to the charger, still no issues. The charge authorized and then reported a connection error. That was it. When I returned to the car and turned it on, the Stop Safely message appeared and the car would not start.

Ford Roadside assistance wanted 125.00 to send a tow truck. My insurance covered the tow for no charge, but they did have to send two different trucks. The first truck was a flatbed and the driver could not put the car in neutral. The second tow truck put the car on a dolly and towed it to the nearest Ford Dealer.

After one day, the Ford dealer is unable to tell us what is wrong, how they will proceed, or what to expect going forward.

The car is a 2022 MME GT. This happened at 5700 miles. Up to the point of the error message, there were no indications of any issues.

So sorry to hear this, that really sucks.

What Ford dealer is your car at? I assume it's in CA somewhere?

Were you able to get home without your car? How far away is your car to get it back?

If you contact one of the folks in the FDRS volunteers thread they can at least tell you what DTC code your car reports -- but I pretty much can guarantee you're needing a new HVBJB.

The silver lining here is that you will get the new one that shouldn't give you any issues from now on (assuming the dealer orders the right part! we've had some members get the old part from their dealers who then go "it's fixed!!!")

Scoop, is your all done and fixed up? I haven’t caught up on the other thread yet if you already mentioned it.

Thanks, scoopman.

The car is in California at a dealership in Patterson. A friend drove 100 miles each way to pick us up and bring us home. The car is now 100 miles from our home, another round trip is in our future.

I will contact a volunteer. Can you link me to the specific thread?

I really like the car. I would like to see it get repaired correctly. This is disappointing, to say the least.

was your car software recently updated for the recall fix?
No. The car was scheduled to be at the dealer today for some items that were agreed to do at the time of purchase. Unless the software update was done without me knowing, it was not done. But honestly, hell if I even know. My understanding when we scheduled the service was that this was going to be addressed then.

Yep! I have the revised part in my car. Made it home over the mountains just fine. It's clear there's some software shenanigans going on at Ford and revisions perhaps coming soon to flash, but Mach N Cheese is back baby!

I'm pretty sure you don't have the recall software fix, that's why you got the bricked car with a "Stop Safely Now" notice.

Patterson was one of the contingencies I looked at as one of the only dealers along I-5.

You might want to contact the dealer and ask if they are trained for EVs and have the specific tools needed to fix what I almost guarantee is wrong with your car. The tools you want to ask about are a "Battery Sled" and the tools to "bleed the cooling system".

You also should immediately start a case with Ford by calling their 800 #. You get a person who helps you communicate with the dealer. (Don't laugh, this is needed because many dealers treat customers like us like crap, and they don't ignore when Ford calls). You can find that phone number and other details here:

So, like me, you need a new HVBJB put in your car. This requires a dealer who knows what they are doing to order the right part, and to open up your battery and install the part, and reassemble and re-fill your cooling system.

Not sure if a dealer in the middle of the central valley of CA that probably sells a lot of Ford F-350s knows what they are doing to do this.

Why did they want $125 to tow the car? Thought Roadside assistance was included
I have been told that Ford Roadside only tows up to 35 miles, even if it is because their car took a turd due to Ford's defective engineering. I've since learned that good car insurance generally has better towing limits and probably better quality companies they bid out to, compared with Ford's quality help.

Yeah. That was what Ford Roadside wanted to tow the car 1.3 miles. The quoted price to tow it to the dealer near my home was $1,180 plus $125. Roadside assistance may be included from Ford, but towing is extra, apparently.

In fairness, my insurance company quoted a similar price for a 100 mile tow. I skipped that and took it to the local dealer in Patterson.
