Yeah you can now subscribe for a month instead of a longer term, if desired. Is Ford offering a trial at all? I let my free BC expire a while ago and didn't renew because I didn't find the features offered at the time appealing. I'd be interested in trying out 1.3 but don't want to commit to it without testing out the new features first.
not expecting an answer but….2021 Mustang Mach-E Owners,
You may have noticed that we have started to roll out the final update to enable BlueCruise 1.3 on BlueCruise-equipped 2021 model year Mustang Mach-E vehicles! Please keep in mind, as this rollout happens not all vehicles will receive the update at the same time. For example, your neighbor with the same model year vehicle could get the update at a different time than you do.
BlueCruise 1.3 helps you stay engaged in hands-free mode longer, including around curves and narrow lanes. It also builds on BlueCruise 1.2 which includes Lane Change Assist allowing you to change lanes by tapping the turn signal and once the path is clear and In-Lane Repositioning which helps keep the vehicle in its lane while subtly shifting position away from vehicles in adjacent lanes.
We want to thank you again for your patience.
The team at Ford
There are roughly 8 (10 now?) “year/job” variants of the MME.Why not just release it to all VINs at once?
I think you made the point you agree with me with that last comment. There are roughly 8 (10 now?) “year/job” variants of the MME.
Multiply that by the select, premium, GT, GTPE, and Rally editions.
That’s more than 40 different “as built” configurations.
No, they aren’t all different. But many are.
Also know that there are several handfuls of components on the MME that have updatable firmware. And every component is from different OEMs, none of which Ford Engineering wrote the firmware for. As I understand it, Ford has to ask the OEM to provide software updates, and most OEMs aren’t really set up for this—they are accustomed to shipping their software once, and that’s it. There may be an incremental new version, but that’s not applied to the preexisting fleet.
(hey, ford: you might have better luck if you tried way harder at only having a single version of firmware run on any given component. Upgrades for a given component should be fleet-wide, like Tesla does. Aggressively minimize the QA testing surface area that your team is trying to support.)
Does one need to have a paid-up subscription for Hands-Free-Blue-Cruise 1.3 in order for the automated-lane-change feature to function? In other words, should lane-keeping on its own respond to a set-up with the turn signal switched on driving on a divided highway?
The skunks work team is doing this for the next generation/version of EV's. Arriving 2027?I think you made the point you agree with me with that last comment.
Ford should be shipping firmware and software upgrades (OTA Updates) fleet-wide rather than piecemeal. It makes their job harder and it frustrates us owners.
In this case there are only a handful of variants (2021 model years) though not relevant to the conversation here.
Installed perfectly in a bit over an hour while at work. Definitely an improvement over BC1.0Just got my notification that the BC1.3 update is ready to install (J1FE no-EA). Gonna install it after I'm back to work from the gym.
