JUICE BOX FAULTING

Hi I have had a Juice Box for almost 3 years and have never had any issues charging. My brother came to visit last week who also has a MME and needed a charge on my charger. It would start then fault in like a minute and he was unable to charge. Now it is doing the same for my car. One night it magically charged my car but keeps starting and stopping charging quickly. Have hit the circuit breaker and shut it down many times. Put settings on ford app to charge any time. Blue light on Juice Box after restarting then blinking yellow when it faults. Probably the juice box is a problem but it is a coincidence that it happened when my brother tried to charge. Any words of wisdom? Thanks.

Your relay could be broken. Happened to my Juicebox. I don't think they were well designed to handle longer loads. I used to have small battery EVs that it worked fine (Kia Niro EV, EV6) but then had this issue when I got my larger battery EVs, Rivian R1s and Lightning. I think sustained charging at 40A killed the relay. I replaced it once and had the issue again.

I ended up just buying a Wallbox and no problem.

It's time to get a new charger. I purchased my Juicebox at Costco. I returned it as soon as JB pulled out of North America. Hopefully you purchased it from there too.

I went with an Emporia as a replacement, but there's lots of good chargers available that have support and working software from their manufacturers.

If it plugs into an outlet, you (or an electrician) may need to check the connections to make sure everything is still tight.

Otherwise it sounds like it's time for a new EVSE. They can and do wear out after some years of use.

I had the same issue recently, and ultimately decided to replace my Juicebox (since it's no longer being supported by the manufacturer). I bought an Emporia Classic Level 2 EV Charger for around $260 (after a $200 discount from my utility). Liking it so far.

Thanks. I had found and tried those instructions without a lot of success. Ultimately, for the modest price of the new unit, I've got something with an actual warranty, support and app again.
