Seems like two issues here: financial impact and purchase regret.

If you didn't think it through (example: not wanting to charge before dark at your own home) and seem to indicate the financials are irrelevant, you should just do what is going to make you feel like you can park it at home without second thoughts.

Expensive lesson learned about doing research before buying. You're going to take a bath on almost any car you purchase and try to sell 4 months later.

Probably soon too the way Russian refineries have been getting hit, exports to India and China falling off a cliff which means they need to buy elsewhere, meaning it gets more expensive for everyone.

What, aside from range loss, which only matters on long trips and with sufficient infrastructure isn't a major problem, EV's are more coinvent to own. I don't get this complaint about having to clear snow, you'd have to do that with your driveway for a gas car anyways?
I find it mildly amusing that as I watch the gas price increasing I think to myself that now my mpg equivalent goes up.

I do, however I dont like plugging it in while its light out. I live in a town house and have many nosey neighbours/kids I'd rather not see the car plugged in and come over to touch things they shouldnt. I dont have the patience to deal with them nicely so I'd rather avoid the situation. I'm fully aware this is a ME issue but it is what it is.
An EV charging is just not that interesting. If it's the first one they've ever seen (is that likely?) sure they might come over and take a look, but it'll get boring, fast. Just rip the bandaid off, charge in the middle of the day and let the nosey neighbors get it out of their system.

If you think that's what will happen you've never had asshole neighbors.

I think everyone has had asshole neighbors at some point.

But of all the anti-EV stories I’ve read here in the last 3 years, I don’t remember any about neighbors messing with your charge cord.

If worried about the thing that’s never happened, get a ring camera and move on with worrying about something else. It’s a pretty easy fix.

For me so far the main thing that has soured the Mach-e experience has been the software. It's almost like I'm driving an early access video game. What bug will pop up today. Monday morning I was getting ready to park at work and all of a sudden DING DING DING 1 PEDAL DRIVE FAULT. Google search shows it happens a fair bit and everyone says to just turn car off/on and carry on. I'm not like that, little things matter. I also have the issue with my car not telling the charger to stop properly, drive modes changing on their own, heat not being hot enough.

I've never owned another EV, is the feeling of driving beta testing software a Ford thing or all EV's?

I think you should get out now. Life is too short to be unhappy.

Hello,

I bought my 2023 Mach-e premium AWD extended at the end of November. My intention was to keep it for 4 years max and use it for solid trade in value. Clearly the trade in value for used EV's has fallen big time. I'm paying monthly for it still. I'm curious if I should take the L now and trade it in (assuming the trade in value is the highest it will ever get) and roll the negative equity into a new ICE or keep the MME for the next 3.5 yrs and use it for whatever trade in value its worth then?

Honestly, this is like selling a stock. If you believe it's already at the bottom, hold on to it because the situation can only get better.

Unless you're just trying to justify wanting to buy something else.

Well as much as I like throwing money away, even I can not justify the numbers. Heard back from Honda, they are seeing low 40's at auction, so it looks like I'll be hanging on to the Mach-e. Discussion was fun though.

Warren Buffett is a very rich man. I tend to follow his advice on cars.

100% with you on that! I additionally decided right before buying my first car in 2006 that I’ll ALWAYS buy a car outright in cash. If I don’t have enough cash, I will wait or buy something cheaper that my cash can buy. Financing a car (especially a people mover grade car or a very new technology car that’s rapidly evolving) just seems weird to me.

So if an automaker offers a very low, or 0% finance rate, or an incentive, you wouldn't take it? That's just bad money management.

One vehicle we got a $1,000 rebate for financing. Paid it off that week, kept the $1,000. No brainer.

Bought our Mach-e with 0.9% for 4 years. No brainer.

Bought our Lightning. Rate was like 7%. Wrote a check. No brainer.

You purchased an extended warranty.

If you trade your car off I am guessing that you are not getting that back or receive credit for that?
Just for clarification ....you CAN get your extended warranty refunded but you have to REQUEST a refund . It will be pro rated. Just got back $1408 from mine . Not back after a full 3 years .Got back my 'EV gas tax" fee also since they apparently just applied the fee that I had just paid in February for the Select that I traded in .That was a pleasant surprise .
