Still have my 21 GTPE, 70k Awesome car. Just bought a new tesla X for the wife, it is great, but i still like the feel of the Mach E. Not a great traveler, but what a great town or short trip car. Always reliable and durable. Holding up very well. I wonder if this car cost a lot more to build than we paid, does anyone know?

Consumer Reports just about always provides the criteria involved in their ratings. If you are literate take the time to read the article you can decide whether or not that criteria is important to you.

The MME's only real big-ticket failure was generally the battery junction box, right? I've seen threads from folks that went through hell with those and their dealers - some owners had multiple JB failures and lost months of use of their cars as incompetent dealers struggled to fix the issues. That mess (knock on wood) seems to be mostly over, doesn't it? This is anecdotal, but I haven't seen a single report of a JB failure in a 2024 or newer car here, or on Reddit's MME subs - and I have been nervously looking for such threads since February... Unless I've just missed them and this is still happening to new Ford owners too (and Ford has every incentive to fix this issue), it would be inevitable that CR's ratings would reflect that progress.
Yes but from 21-22 there were plenty of annoying small recalls. Ford seems to issue recalls for small things(I've owned a bunch of Mach-Es and Broncos) so overall PERCEPTION of reliability is lower because of these.

As I understand it, CR does weight the severity of the issues, so flappy rear cargo covers don't figure quite as heavily into the ratings as fried circuitry buried deep down in the battery pack.

In 2021 there were some issues with suspension faults on the GTPE.

Actually if you go by the CR chart here 2021 MachE is not reliable. Now I know early production had some issues but mine built in late 2020 has outstanding quality. The best new car I have owned. Zero maintenance, no unplanned breakdown, no issues going on 4 years and 24K miles.

We have a 22 and it's been stone cold reliable.
Same with our 2022 Premium. No problems in more than 90,000 miles driven!
