I think we called it a "shit load" !
Generally, I use ā€œmetric tonā€ because virtually no one in the USA has any clue what a metric anything is. In this case I wanted to impress ā€œa lot,ā€ and not ā€œwhat’s that?ā€ So I used boatload cause that was more common around seaports for ā€œa lot,ā€ and I grew up (in theory) near various seaports.

The T3 project (Trust The Truck iirc) is alive and well. It is based on the new platform which is part of the project. The prototypes are rumored (In the press, I have no direct or third hand knowledge) to be slated for sometime in 2027 with production in 2028. That could mean a 2028 model year or a 2029. But that’s all speculation.

That’s pretty much all we ā€œknowā€, or have heard.
if this is right, it's already been about 2 years it's still 1-2 years to prototype and anther 1-2 years beyond that to production... development process is still 5-7 years... this is why the Chinese have already won.

The second generation Lightning production was pushed back to 2028. That doesn’t mean a 2028 model year though.

The 3 T’s project is a midsized truck. And likely a very stripped down one given the starting price.

American’s like full sized everything, including trucks.

A little off on 50 years ago. That was a year or two after the OPEC oil crisis and when American drivers started embracing Hondas and Toyotas instead of gas guzzlers. I remember people freaking out when gas hit $1/gallon. The pumps couldn’t display the cost, so it was set to $.599/ 1/2 gallon. Now people are paying the equivalent price and just complaining instead of buying more efficient cars.

It’s a cartoon. They’re not meant to be taken literally.

That’s not correct Steve, adjusted for inflation $1.00 in 1975 would be just over $6.00 in today’s dollars. Since I just paid $2.73 a gallon for gas today that $1.00 gas is literally more than twice as much as I paid.

I didn’t do the math, but last time I got gas it was close to $5/gallon, $50+ to fill my Subaru. Got a Mach E almost 2 years ago and haven’t had to fill up since.
