I press the "Lock" button on the inside of the door to lock the car. The other day, the key was still in the car.

The car did not "beep" or not lock...it locked. Thank goodness I can unlock the door with my phone.

I've looked at the owners' manual, and available settings, and I can not figure out how to get the car to beep, and not lock, when the key is in there with the doors being locked.

Suggestions?

There is a "walk away" lock setting in the menu. You have the choice to have the car beep or not when this on.

we always leave our keys in the car, and have done so for years. Thats the benefit of the keypad on the door (Since PAAK isn't 100%).
This is my first Ford?

Is there anywhere that can explain this method of leaving the keys inside the car? I'm nervous to do this as anyone can just open the door since it's within proximity right?

There should only be one way that you CAN lock your fob/phone in the car. That is to press the 7-8 and 9-0 on the pillar after you get out.

As I recall, other combinations don't work such as locking with your phone or walkaway when the fob is in the car, pressing the lock or bottom buttons door, etc.

This is what runners and beach-goers do to lock their Fords. You leave the fob in the car, use the pillar to lock, and then use the pillar code to get back in later.

If I understand these posts (there’s been a couple), I think Ford lets you lock the car with the key fob inside. Like if the key fob is inside and you press lock, the car won’t reject it but will actually lock the car even if you step out before closing the door, leaving the fob inside.

I sort of feel like I must be missing something though. I can understand walk away lock not working if the car detects a fob inside because that’s an automatic process, but when you specifically tell the car to lock now using the inside lock button, isn’t it a safety issue if the car rejects it because the key fob is also inside (and really, where else would the key fob be but inside the cabin if you are sitting in your vehicle?). What car doesn’t let you lock it if you are sitting inside of it with the key fob?

This is the first car I have had that doesn’t warn you when you have the key in the locked car when walking away. However, every car does let you lock it when sitting inside. Hmmm.

The nice thing about this is you are describing what runners and beach-goers do to lock their Fords. You leave the fob in the car, use the armrest button to lock, and then use the pillar code to get back in later.
Sorry. I had that backwards. The only way you should be able to lock your keys in the car is by pressing the 7-8 and 9-0 together on the pillar. You SHOULD get an alert if you leave the fob/phone in the car, press the lock on the inside of the door, and get out. I just tested mine.

Does anybody know how to set the door keypad in a MME. I just got my brand new MME and used the factor code and then after I erased that to put in my new code I kept getting error when I put in the confirmation of the new code. Gave up after a while. Any help would be appreciated.

I don’t think you can erase the original code given to you on a card. It should always work

Thanks. I guess if I cannot figure out how to set a new one I at least can keep using this one in the meantime. I will try and open the car with the factor code and see if that at least works.
