Having parked at airports for weeks at a time with EVs, power loss is minimal. Maybe a few percent per week. If I were leaving it for a week, I would charge to 75% on my way in and plan to stop at a DCFC on the way home if 70%ish is not enough for the trip home.

The chargers at airports are not meant to be left plugged into your car for the entirety of your trip. They are for topping off before you park and when you leave.
Mach-E doesn't lose charge.

Leaving your vehicle plugged in for a week on a free public charger is no different than and ice vehicle blocking a charger and we all know how us bev owners feel about that!!!

This is not true for all airports. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Sacramento airport (my primary airport) specifically installed 24 Level 1 chargers and 12 Level 2 chargers for daily and weekly charging. The airport EV charging guidelines state you cannot leave your car at a charger longer than 3 weeks. You mentioned topping off your car and not sure if you've ever used a Level 1 charger but that would be impossible even in several hours.

I had a total knee replacement 3 years ago that prevented me from driving for about 6 weeks. The mach-e was parked at 50 something percent soc at the start and was at the same when I started driving again.

It shouldn't take 2 pages of discussion to debate that chargers at a long term parking lot are designed for vehicles to be parked at the spot the entire time the traveler is gone. But, alas, it does. I fear for humanity.

The L2 chargers at the Kona airport prohibit employees from charging and are restricted to 6 hours. At an airport. You can’t go to Honolulu and back in 6 hours. The state airport authority doesn’t want people using its chargers apparently. ?

But there is signage telling you that, right? So, it also wouldn't need to be posted on a forum. Are they in the long term lot?

There’s a train station in my town that has L2 chargers. This (and airports) are the types of locations that should probably just have 120v 15 amp outlets … because you can install a LOT more 120v outlets for L1 charging vs. the handful of L2 chargers and … if someone is going to be gone for days (or more) … L1 charging is fine.

Yes to the sign. No they’re in short term parking. Seriously, there’s no realistic way to go to Honolulu and back (the fastest location to get to and from in a single day) and back in less than 6 hours. Long term parking has no chargers.

What I do see there though is locals, without home charging I’m guessing, driving there and paying both for parking and to use the L2 chargers. ?‍♂

The NEVI station in Kona was supposed to go in about 7 road miles away from the airport so that would alleviate the idiocy of double paying for L2 cause you can’t charge at home. Unfortunately, the state decided to push back all the NEVI station installations on the state’s second most populated island until late 2025. The money for that round may not be in their hands either.

If you go to pickup someone and are old fashioned and want to go in and wait for them, or sit int he lot and wait, you can charge.

At our airport, they have chargers in the cellphone lot, but for 15 minutes getting 1.X kWh isn't worth the effort.
