After 10 months of ownership I had this happen to me. As someone else described, sounded like someone hit the car from the outside with something upon startup (or maybe after Apple CarPlay started, not sure), and then none of my music was playing. Thumping heard with volume changes, and no music was heard even though my phone thought it was playing. The weird thing is that if I activated Siri, I'd hear a thump as the Siri tone initiated, but the voice would announce things just fine. It's worth noting that the Mach-E views a difference between voice volume and music volume... either way, my music wouldn't play. Rebooted the Sync system, rebooted my phone - nothing. Drove to work with just the road noise. It seemed to be working fine when I drove home.

If it happens again I'll try switching to FM radio and back. Really weird glitch... I was worried my audio system was broken and would need to bring it in for service, I'm glad that's not the case.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

I had this happen to me today, and switching to FM radio and back to CarPlay resolved it. It was pretty scary, though. I thought my amp had blown.

I had this happen to me about 2 weeks ago. LOUD thump (thought something hit the car, but I was parked at the time). Changing to FM restored audio, but the bass (rear subwoofer) seems very subdued if not altogether out. I have tried resetting sync, but to no avail. Currently at the dealer, though that may lead nowhere... With the base all the way up and treble and mid all the way down, I can pull the surround to the back left and get some bass, back right and get some bass, pull it to back center and seems less bass when I would expect strong thumping from the rear for bass notes...

Waiting to see what they find (they said they are trying to apply a TSB, but that may not be related). Based on some comments here, I may suggest trying to disconnect the 12v (and test it), and maybe creating a new profile.

Really odd event - the B&O sound system I have found to be pretty good, but not so much at the moment :(

We have had the Mache (2022) for nearly two years and this has happened a least twice. Obviously after doing something( I can't remember if I shut the car off or changed the mode from Sirius to FM ) is restored itself.. Was disconcerting but it hasn't happened for about a year.

Yes, disconnecting the 12V battery will probably fix the bass.

This just happened to me on my 2023 Premium AWD and can I say I love this forum? The loud BOOMS were jarring but after two resets didn’t fix it, I came here and found a quick fix instantly. Thanks y’all. @Ford Motor Company - Ever find out what’s causing this? It can be super alarming!

I had similar loud sounds when I was driving 2 days ago. Shortly after I made a sharp U-turn and hit the curb with the right rear tire, I heard a loud thump, sounding like something heavy falling into the door pocket, or like someone throwing a water bottle into the side of the car. CarPlay was running, but no radio or music. The noise recurred 2-3 times over the next five minutes but the car was handling and braking normally and there were no alerts displayed. Since we were entering the freeway we had to continue driving. The loud noise recurred several more times over the next 10 minutes. At the next freeway exit, I stopped and looked under and around the car and found nothing. When we resumed the trip the problem did not recur. No recurrence when I was driving yesterday. Today when we're out and about, I'll check the sound system see if there is any problem.

The noise is caused by your amp going on the fritz, which is often caused by a dying LVB. Checking your LVB is the place to start. These LVBs are crap and typically last around three years before requiring replacement. So if you’re driving a 2022, get ready.

I'm so glad I found this thread. Happened to me today, and it gave me one hell of a fright.

I know being in Aus things take a little longer to reach us- but has there been a fix for this problem in the USA, a Sync update or something?

I feel like just enough time will go by I forget this happened and then BANG!
