First impressions on seeing this: This appears staged. The camera person is conveniently filming the entire sequence at just the right time, from just right angle and miraculously avoids the collision. The person driving the Mach-E seems to be doing nothing to stop the situation. I find it hard to believe that the steering would lock, and brakes would not work.

First guess, manufacturing a lawsuit against Ford by staging a failed Blue Cruise and some other made-up failures. In our litigious society, there is no shortage of parasites looking to make an easy buck.

by the way what is going on with 101 right there? are they doing construction? feels like there's a temporary barrier right in the middle of the freeway. did the mach-e veer into an onramp?
There is a long exit ramp along the side of US 101 southbound. It encompasses the exits going into San Carlos proper (Holly St W), toward SQL (San Carlos Airport, Holly St E), and Brittan Ave, along with the on-ramps from those streets. The barrier is permanent and runs almost the entirety of the long exit/entrance ramp. The Mach-E crashed into the red car at the end of the on ramp, south of Brittan Ave. There are lights at that point to control the ingress of traffic onto the freeway. 😁🐩

thanks, i live in the east bay and rarely end up on 101 unless i'm in silicon valley. the geometry there just seemed weird, like there were 2 freeways separated by a barrier given the matching speed of the car filming. but i guess the mach-e probably wasn't exactly going at highway speeds up against the barrier like that!

Can OP or a mod/admin update the title and the first post and/or lock the thread?

It’s already been posted it was due to driver error (DUI) and people are still posting wild speculations about a malfunctioning car pages later.
Hit that big ole button at the top , "UNWATCH" , and you can go about your day in peace.

If the guy got a DUI then maybe Ford should sue him for defamation of car character.

They were drunk. Read the post above yours.
"Driving under the influence," not Drunk.....

Likely driving under the influence of drugs, given the limited evidence, including the driver's (seemingly) unawareness of what was going on, not responding to what was going on, seemingly praying, etc...

1. No. DUI is not an abbreviation for Driving While Intoxicated. It’s driving under the influence.
2. Again no, they’re arrested because it’s alleged they were under the influence. Testing isn’t perfect. Car based breathalyzer machines are notoriously inaccurate. The ones at the station are only slightly more accurate. Field Sobriety tests aren’t designed to test your sobriety, they’re designed to give police officers grounds to back up their reason for pulling you over. Failure in those tests, regardless of reason, including artificial limbs and joints, gives probable cause for arrest.
3. The only test worthwhile is a blood sample done at a hospital.

Unless the test has been fully adjudicated, alleged is the only proper response.
Yada yada yada, this dude was freaking messed up.

See video evidence.

Maybe he was born that way.....allegedly.
Right? He must be the victim now. šŸ˜‚

It’s interesting how quickly some people swing to defend as soon as the DUI is brought up.

When it’s just an insane person wrecking a car everyone attacks.

But they might be under the influence and all of a sudden we get a science, medical and legal lesson. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

This person could have killed someone and we are lucky they didn’t. I may make jokes, but in reality I have zero empathy here. No excuse for what we saw in the video.
