I am pretty sure lithium ion fires are Class B and a burning car battery is not going to be extinguished easily. So they let them burn and douse the area with massive amounts of water to stop the spread of damage.

In Korea, there have been many EV related fires and their official method now is making a temporary 'swimming pool' around the EV car and filling the water.

The Mach-E fire was in Las Vegas NV. The Tesla fire was in Sacramento CA.

I don't think we ever heard where the Mach-E fire really started in the car. Still doesn't look like a battery fire to me, but rather something in the interior. Maybe not even caused by the car itself, but rather some item they had inside the car.

Fun fact: In an average year there are 10 000 vehicle fires in Canada.
Most don't make news coverage I'm guessing because they're not EVs.

Electric Ford Mustang EV vehicle battery was punctured from freeway debris and caused a fire. CCFD is having a hard time putting it out. It keeps reigniting. They been onscene for about 2 hours now.

That is one of the issues with electric cars... if the batteries are damaged... it will continue to reignite... I think is was Grand Prix or something on Amazon... the electric super car lost control and crashed, it re-ignited like 7 or 8 times....

Possibility. Hard to armor entirely against sharp objects with a 4500lb+ vehicle. Basic physics. LFP can't come soon enough!

Did the vehicle do a SSN? Or did they smell burning chemicals?

Very happy that it was a "safe" fire as far as those go but I'm just wondering how they figured out they were in trouble.

SSN = Submersible, Nuclear. SS means submarine, the N means nuclear powered. If there's a G it's full of guided missiles (154, each w/ 1600km+ range), if it's B, It's a continent killer packed full of more firepower than has ever been used in all of humanity. Up to 24 SLBMs w/ 12 warheads each (288 warhead potential). Missile range in excess of 12,000km.
