He was just smoking' the tires....standard burn-out procedure pre-drag race. Must have just got a bit carried away.

Well, if it wasn't the battery than I don't know what could have burnt like this.

And when you’re in the witness box in Court, as an Independent Expert like I’ve been many times, that you not me are happy to admit you don’t know……………. won’t prove anything or make the Manufacturer, insurer or anybody else including the judge believe it was a battery induced fire??‍♂

When it comes down to it, one photo of flames coming from under a car you know nothing about owned by somebody you know nothing about and a report by the uninformed biased press is insufficient evidence to come to any kind of conclusion.

What did I hear once? Don’t let the evidence, or lack of it, get in the way of a sound evidence based conclusion you’re happy to jump to!!!!!

Reminds me of the lawyers creed: "When the facts are against you argue the law. When the law is against you argue the facts."

Whether or not it was the battery, they definitely were taking all the proper procedures

True, and you’d expect nothing less of them, whilst they’re not able, equipped or are given sufficient time to forensically investigate the cause of fires, they are amazing committed professionals keeping us safe in this world!

God bless them for doing something I’m not brave or strong enough to do.

electrical fires are best extinguished with foam/chemical spray to cut off oxygen.... using water is generally not effective as they rarely have enough volume.

with the flames coming out the back initially..... maybe the motor, or a bad connector ?
This is actually not true.
Battery fires are NOT electrical fires. They are thermal runaway events which generate heat. Covering it with foam isn’t going to stop a runaway event. It needs massive amounts of water.

I absolutely love this firematic setup. Looks like some speciality equipment and they knew exactly what to do and was hitting it from multiple angles

Just for reference, ICE cars catch fire far more frequently than EVs. News just likes to focus on EVs because it's a current story. Just last week I saw a 2022 BMW M4 on the side of a highway, with its front hood missing and engine engulfed in flames. Driver was standing by the car on his cell phone.

There are far more ICE vehicles. Do you have data to support that assertion?
