Mach-E GT in Cyber Orange @ Chicago Auto Show

The 2021 Chicago Auto Show kicks off tomorrow and the Mach-E has a presence in the form of this Cyber Orange Mach-E GT. ?

Love it! The aero wheels also don’t look half bad. I have been debating whether I will run my GT with or without the covers, since they look good I think my driving will be the determine factor.

They are also having a lot of outdoor events that they never had during normal times when the show was in February when the temps are -10.

Hey, 8 years old I played Pop Warner football in that type of weather in Arlington Heights. Surely people can walk around cars.

Seriously though I’m taking the covers off. Configurator initially had them off on the GTs and I thought they looked exactly like a modern ev take on a classic 5 spoke GT wheel should look.

Will probably switch those conties to Michelin’s new EV performance tire. If they’re still making them by the time this chip shortage stops being an A hole.

watching this had me notice for the first time that the propulsion sound is only active when the accelerator is engaged and doesn’t taper down when you let off like you’d hear in an ICE. Maybe it’s not as noticeable in an automatic transmission but in a manual it’s definitely loud when you let off the throttle and remain in a low gear. Since that’s what it’s supposed to be emulating I’m kind of disappointed in that regard. Hopefully it’s something already on the improvement team’s to-do list.

Looks like the wheels slipped on launch. He had to work to keep it straight. Acceleration looked great!

I like the color, if only for the fact that it is now the only GT series exclusive color. Plus I already have the FE in Grabber and bold colors seem to attract positive attention on the ME. And those covers are coming off the wheels before it leaves my dealership.

Surprised that the wheel covers actually don't look half bad. I feel like those wheels will be a 'see it in person' sort of affair, but damn I can't wait to see mine in person LOL. I don't even have a VIN number yet. I love that color but I think it works as a second car kind of color. Strong colors like that can really be hit and miss, like you love it at first and then it can get kind of tiring so I went with Space White since it's a really nice grey/white mix and still looks like it has some style to it.

There are aero inserts. And again it's subjective. Some of us don't mind them.

Without the inserts they do look better.

ill give you they look better without the areo part.. they remind me the taurus sho wheels from a few years back.. hated those. not a fan of these... The PE wheels look better IMO

I have plans to use these as winter wheels and swapping out to wider anyhow. 20x8 wheels are just too skinny. I want at least a 265 tire on a 9.5 to 10" wheel.

edit: looks like 275/40R20 is the same diameter as 245/45R20. Time to start shopping
