I’ve had several different exchanges but two are the most common.. first one is the person who is seeing it for the first time wants to dislike it because it’s called a Mustang but has this look of confusion caused by liking it so much and almost instantly convert to being ok with it being called a Mustang now (I was once part of this crew!). Then the other is the classic mustang owner who’s curious about it and loves it and talks about their own Mustang experiences. The rest have been a mixed bag, but never anything overtly negative from my encounters yet.
I owned a 2014 GT and loved the performance but hated the stiff suspension and ruff ride. My ME premium has a better ride and good acceleration. When I see a M ICE I think your looking good but you don’t know how great it is to drive this thing!

I sure hope you can do better than that.
Probably can. Just a rough estimate from the MME’s dash geustimator, in an AWD. I tend to guess conservatively on range since I’m fairly new to electric.

I did not take it personally. I think lack of understanding and education about EV's gets most confused on how to manage energy consumption and recharging. I would still not take it on a cross country trip or down to Florida... but I would not be driving my ICE vehicle to those locations either. Less time and $ to fly.
I bought my MME in Orlando and drove it 1100 miles back home to Austin. Always found a place to charge.

I am female, 30s, and these are the reactions I get:

- what is it?? I love it! (Usually always women who react this way)
- Unsolicited smart-ass comments about the batteries can't be recycled l, what do I do when the there's a power blackout (asked rethorically), sarcasm about how electricity is still a strain and bad for the environment. Or testing me with questions about horsepower, kwh, prices. These trolling comments are always men over 40ish.
- enthusiastic and geeking out about the specs. Usually men under 40.

I'd like to share a verbal exchange of this past weekend while I was plugging in the MME at a local (casino) parking garage.
I know there may be other posts that are similar to this topic, and would like to hear from others. Perhaps a running thread, sticky or other can be created to share just the comments from the public. No need to debate, just interested in hearing what the public says and some possible responses. Here is the exchange:

Man (walking past EV charging bank): "I hope that thing has a gas engine"
Me: "Nope, all electric"
Man: "What are you going to do if you have to take a trip to Florida?" (from MA)
Me: "Take a plane"
Man: "Ya?"
Me: "Its cheaper"
(Man gets in lifted diesel pickup and drives away)

That kind of encounter doesn’t bother me what does bother me are the ICE vehicles parked in front of charging stations usually at Walmart. Those dudes with the mullets and the members only jackets and the old spice cologne are setting up a confrontation in most cases. Sometimes they leave the Missus or the kids in the vehicle to taunt you while they shop. They claim it is their inalienable “raht” to park anywhere. It’s almost like a Saturday night live skit

Walmart is my last option for charging

What about the "raht" of the property owners and owners of the charging station to establish rules as to who can park there and under what circumstances?

I had someone say "good luck when you have a power outage and you're stuck at home because you can't charge your car". Like the battery suddenly dies when the power in my house goes out? Also, "what are you going to do when you have to replace the battery in 5 years?" I then explain that I have an 8 year, 100,000 mile warranty on my battery so I would just have Ford replace it.

Ask them how much gas they unburn. Then say battery recycling will actually be a possibility.

I got this yesterday:
“So, is it a crossover or an SUV?"
I said:
"5 door coupe"
That puzzled them
Stealing this.

Repurposing BEV batteries is another way to go. These things e ll not be sitting around toxic waste faculties or local landfills.

Good you didn't take it personally; that said, I drive 300-350 mile trips (each way BOS->PHL suburbs and BOS->NE PA) a few times a year and preferred my old Volts to either my Tesla Model 3 or Mach E (especially in winter when range is lower and charging is slower) because I have to plan stops that may not be ideal. With Volt or any gas car I've owned, I could go straight or could stop whenever everyone in the car wanted to for food rather than try to coordinate EV charging with food based upon the remaining range. That said, if this guy was in a lifted Diesel I'd have loved to ask him how much fuel costs him to drive 1400 miles! :)

..and that was in March when gas was cheap! (Ha). If I asked that now...them would be fighting words.

I fear there is an attitude towards EV adoption (along with lack of education about EVs). Recently I offered to drive a group to a party as we were planning for the night. I mentioned we should take the Mach-e to save someone having to use their gas. Not a super long trip, but enough that it would cost a bit. The response I got was... If I can afford the car, I should be able to afford the gas to put in it. We took the MME anyway and I made the person drive home.

I guess that is a good assumption. This happened just under 2 weeks ago after @scoopman helped me update my car. ??

I drove to the supermarket near my home, parked out in the boonies where there was only a PG&E truck parked 3 spaces over and came out to:

Starting the GBM movement... Grabber Blue Matters.
Can't we all just get along? That sucks.

Pretty nasty chip/scrape. I filled some chips on my hood with paint (Carbonized Gray Metallic code M7) from automotivetouchup.com

Not sure if they have the grabber blue, and there is more of an art to bigger scratches and chips.

I had some rock chips that I fixed that are in the photos. You can barely see them. I am not going to attempt to repair these scratches/gouges myself. I made an appointment with a mobile repair guy who has a zillion good reviews, so keeping my fingers crossed that he will do me well. ??

Since there were no cars remotely near my car, I can only guess that someone purposely ran a shopping cart into my car. Some people I guess don’t like EVs. Or maybe they just don’t like Fords. ?‍♂?

This calls for a new feature. Motion activated cameras when parked. Kinda like the Ring doorbell or security spot light camera. Many people use dash cams, it would be cool if existing cameras could be used for this as well.

Accident or not, someone should be responsible for damage done to property.
