We’re going to upgrade the OEM summer tires that we optioned on our 4X to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4s in size 245/50-19 shortly after we take delivery. The specs say they fit a 7”- 8.5” rim width and that they are 2 lbs lighter per tire than the OEM 225/55s. Removing 8 lbs of rotating mass is a big deal and may offset the extra rolling resistance of the wider contact patch.

https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires....9PSAS4XL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

But, if we also decide to get aftermarket wheels they’re going to look better than the ones Alex got. Those are rubbish on a Mach E.
Hi,
I am also thinking of upgrading my AWD Premium Mach E stock tires but do not want to change the 19" rims. When you changed to 245/50x19, did you change the rims or only tires?
I visited Ford and few local shops but nobody could confirm if wider width tires will fit on the stock 19" rims.

Stock premium wheels are 7" wide. Tires with a measured rim width of 7" will sit flush while those at 7.5" will bump out a barely perceptible quarter inch on either side of the wheel's frame. As long as the 7" is within the tire's width range, it can be installed on the wheel (although extreme overhangs may risk interfering with suspension components and tend to look rather silly).

I went with the Conti 245 extreme contacts and they fit fine, good traction, and I lost about 7% range. More than happy with trade-off as ride is much better.

Is this the one you upgraded to? If so, how is the driving dynamics post upgrade in terms of Ride Quality, Road Noise, and Wet surface handling (especially since Winter is approaching)? I read that changing to wider tires increases the road noise level and worsens the wet surface ride.

We ended up getting 20”x8.5” OZ Gran Turismo HLT wheels instead with 255/45-20 Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 tires. However, the specs for the Michelin 245/50-19s on Tire Rack’s website confirmed they can be used on the OEM 7” wide wheel.

Tires are much quieter, a softer ride (less hard bumps) but still maintain excellent handling even on wet roads. I am much happier with them. If I paid this much for a car wanted a better ride. There is a separate thread on these very tires. Everyone who has gotten them love them.

Thanks, just to confirm..you didn't upsize the rims, just the tires?

I went the same route but saw a little more range decrease as I have a 50 mile highway commute to work each day. Lost about 25 miles at 90% from before. 3.3 mi/kw is now 3.0/3.1. Ride is better especially on wet surfaces which in GA is a must. I'm hoping we have better selection of EV tires next go round

Just to confirm to you, I made the switch to the Conti DWS06+ in 245/50ZR19 on my 22 MME Premium eAWD ER and did not change the rims. All is excellent.

Any change to the bouncy ride? Better/Worse?

Bouncy ride much improved. These are not rock hard e-tires so they can flex and absorb some of those little bumps. Overall ride is much quieter and very much more sedate with still having good handling on curves etc.

Thanks for the info.

I'll definitely keep these tires in mind when I go to replace my original set.

I upgraded my Mach E Premium AWD stock tires to Continental Extremecontact DWS D6 245x50xZR19. Attaching some photos.
I am little worried that the tire wall protrude out of the rim by large extent.
Ride quality 2ise, little improvement, yet to go on a long drive to observe the road noise and comfort.

I went with the conti dws 06 as well, and bumped width from stock 225 to 245. The 245 width fits my Enkie TSV 8.5" wide wheels much better, and I have noticed LESS road noise than the stock Michelins.

Too early to tell with only a few miles on the new tires, but its looking like the 245 width has reduced range about 5%. I think they are a MUCH nicer feel though, so it's worth it to me. I don't do much long range driving, and am happy to stop a little earlier for a charge if I have to.
