Update 9/25: We still don't know why it read wrong after many attempts, so they replaced it and things are fine now.

===

Driving home I picked up a nail in my back right tire. Tire pressure warning went off immediately and I pulled over.

Next day I had it fixed at a local shop, and they said most cars recalibrate after about 10 minutes of driving on the highway. My TPMS is still reading very low and I know it's wrong because I just drove 22 miles in 28 minutes mostly at highway speed.

Is there something else I need to do?

After arriving at work my dash still shows the tire pressure indicators:

And I know my tire is properly inflated, but the TPMS is just reading low. The car's Tire Pressure screen says 42 psi, 42 psi, 42 psi, 32 psi. But my tire gauge (in my tire pump) reads 41.5 psi, 41 psi, 41.5 psi, 40.0 psi.

It should not need to calibrate anything if the same wheel sensor is still used on the same place. If it was replaced or wheels was moved to different locations the car might need to be off and not moving for an hour or more just for the sensors to go into sleep mode, and it will re-register sensors on next drive.

There is no "recalibrating" There is a 20 mile drive AND waiting for FordPass to update. However, the car should show the proper icons (i.e. no more flat icon) and pressures after the 20 mile drive.

Sounds to me that the pressure sensor in the wheel was damaged when the tire was removed or reinstalled. I'd take the car back to the repair shop and have them ping the sensor to see if it responds.

Agreed. Alternatively (unlikely since @EVCheese 's car is a 2023) the battery in the TPMS sensor could be reaching end of life. The TPMS sensors I have on my 2024 are from my 2021 Job2 car and they're still functioning fine. 🤷‍♂️🐩

The updates are instant on my 2024. I had to put air in my drivers rear and you can see the pressure posted increasing on the dash as you air up the tire. It is likely yours was damaged or had the setting messed up.

update. I actually let most of the air out before I realized I had to plug the hose into the compressor. silly me. It was down to 19 pounds. LOL

I've seen this a few times now. I think what happens is a low pressure event (such as a puncture) causes the TPMS sensor to go into alarm (which means it's transmitting constantly) which then kills the battery in less than a day (the battery is non-replaceable so the sensor has to be replaced). The reading from a dead sensor will not update (because it's no longer talking), so it continues to show the last reading and a TPMS alert.

Ford should change the software so the previous pressure reading is not displayed if the data is stale (it should just show --). Because a lot of people are getting confused and frustrated by this and not realizing the sensor is dead.

To confirm my theory, was 32 PSI the last reading you saw before you shut the car off on the day it happened?
