I encountered a new bug (for me) yesterday. My son was driving, and we were pulling out of a parking spot to drive home. The windows were completely fogged up, so I tried to hit the "Max Defrost" on the screen, but it wouldn't turn on. The rear defrost would, but not the max defrost. I had to tell my son to use th physical button, which worked, but he had trouble finding it. He's a relatively new driver, and the situation was a bit dangerous as we were stopped dead in the middle of a busy, cramped parking lot. After that drive, it has worked fine.

I've also had the Max Defrost button on the screen not function more than once. I don't have a physical button but my solution is to select the Climate Control button which pulls up all the controls and selected Defrost, turned off recirculating if it was on and adjust the fan speed to high. It's a couple more steps than just hitting one button but it works.

It may work, but in a pinch (very cold weather when the windshield fogs up quickly), it’s actually quite dangerous.

I very much agree with you. Neither of my times were the windshield or windows fully fogged up, only partially so it was not a dangerous situation but I understand if it was.
