Yeah, that’s the key. The app says to plug in first - just ignore that and activate the charger in the app first and then plug in. It will work and charge your EA account at whatever rate plan is active.

Thanks @Tampamike - went on a road trip and swiping to activate charger before plugging worked each time without turning off plug-and-charge.
