I have been trying to emulate Tesla Doggie Mode for typically short trips into the store. Too bad Ford doesn't offer a similar feature. My son uses it all the time, and is very useful, IMO.

To do this, I have the MME powered on, I set the AC to run at the correct temperature. Then I go to:

Controls ---> Vehicle --> Power Down Timer --> and then turn the timer to "off"
Controls ---> Vehicle --> Alarm System --> Motion Sensor --> and then turn the motion sensor to "off"
I then exit, and lock it MME with the door key pad (pressing 7,8 & 9,0). Car is running, AC is running, no alarms. Lucy is unhappy being left in the MME, but she is comfortable.

This has been working well for me. But the other day I came back, and the MME had power down and AC was off. There was a message on the display that the MME had entered "Power Saver Mode". I had plenty of battery and 12vDC should have been fine. What gives?

Being in Arizona, and in the summer, It is really risky if the MME AC stops and Lucy is inside. Any suggestions on how to do a Tesla like "Doggie Mode" that is more dependable?

I have had the power-down timer disable fail on more than one occasion. If i am going into the market on the way home from work I generally use the remote start feature and extend it. The market rarely takes me more than 20-25 minutes. If I know I am going to be longer, I drop off my shorter 4-legged companion at home first. ??

There are several threads on a “dog mode” or a “pet mode.” People have come up with some interesting personal ways of creating their own pet mode. Ford itself filed a patent for a pet mode several years ago. It hasn’t seen the light of day yet. ?‍♂?

I’m more interested in Poodle Lights anyhow. ??

"Pet comfort" is coming, it's already showing as an option on the APIM, it's just missing the full software across all modules to utilize it. There's a few features showing up that's never been mentioned.

I’m getting my pup a service dog tag. Just need to figure out what skills he’s good at (in case I was asked). Perhaps sniffing out the friggin rats out of your lousy establishment? Might test that and see how well it works.

note: mini schnauzer, so not a service oriented breed or size.

Depends on the service needed. Small dogs are great for helping with anxiety or PTSD, and one of my coworkers has a frenchie to help detect when her sugar level is way off. However, if you don't have a need for a service dog, or a dog capable of behaving appropriately in public settings where dogs are otherwise banned, bringing a not-really-a-service-dog in and having it potentially cause problems just makes things much harder for those who truly need and benefit from service dogs. (I work at the VA, so am around a lot of service dogs and the people they serve.)

I was mostly joking. But generally having an emotional support animal doesn’t get you into too many places. Most places around here require the pet to be a service animal to be allowed in. Many of my neighbors have emotional support tags to get away with having larger pets than what the HOAs allow. A bit of a mess really.

I do hope that more places allow dogs access. It’s still not ideal to leave a pet in the car even with air conditioning.

For PTSD or other mental health conditions, people can have emotional support pets, which generally live at home, or service dogs that help in public settings. Depends on the dog's training. I wish there were more formal processes to ensure the service dogs are truly service dogs, but I also wish more places were dog friendly, so my anxious dog could stay with her humans when we are on vacation. Pet mode would also be nice, though.
