Sounds like many others have had the "opportunity" to "jump start" their MME with a dead 12V. Jump Start seems like a bit of a misnomer compared to the similar operation on an ICE, where you just have to spin the starter until it starts and then the alternator does the rest.
Seems like with an MME you would have to leave a jump battery (or a charger) connected for a longer time to charge the 12V battery up enough to light up the electronics. Does that little front plate pop off easily, and can you replace it without messing up the finish? Then you pull out two 12V leads and hook up battery or charger. Seems a little scary to have a positive lead hanging out where it could touch ground. Does something guard against that happening?
Of course first I have to get the MME back from the dealer where they have a "staff shortage".

You're misunderstanding what those leads in the bumper do. Applying 12V there will pop the frunk open if the car's 12V battery is dead. You can't jump the battery from there.

Yes, it's easy to pop off that cover in the bumper and put it back without scratching it. But once you get the frunk open, it's not as easy to expose the real battery jump points. That's why a lot of us have drilled holes in the beauty cover to expose them.

I have never had a car or truck that didn’t need to be jump started at some point! Should have come from the factory with those holes already in place!

My Wife just said, “ You’re NOT drilling any holes in my car!!! “ lol
Holes needed to be drilled, but looks almost like the factory intended this. ??

I've read a few of these "jump start" threads and I haven't seen what the requirements for a jump start are. Since your not "starting" anything, what amperage does a jump start need to be capable of? If it's just a few amps to trigger a relay, then it should be simple to connect some leads to the battery and route them through existing holes/ seams....and avoid future cover removals or drilling anything.

Is this something you installed? Or did you have it done somewhere?
