I have this same problem. This little shelf combined with the rather harsh ride in my select makes it constantly hurt my leg. I'm 6'. I've thought quite a bit about taking the car to a custom shop to rework the whole center console shelf. I don't want to stick a piece of soft padding there.

Quick update - I took the padding out several months ago as it started to fall off. I have found that I have adjusted my leg position when driving.

I hope @Ford Motor Company does some market research on the interior - I want the Mach E to have a better cockpit, like the Polestar 2 or Model 3/Y or BMW i4. - the center console needs to be higher up relative to the driver and the leg pocket should be continuous. A sports car should put the driver into an optimal, slightly reclined position.

My right leg has a spot that kind of hardened to this after 30k+ miles. I also had the speaker knee rub. Just got used to both. The edge is annoying, but put two 32oz cups in the cup holder and my day is ruined.

I don’t know if I already updated to say this, but I got used to it and got rid of the pad. It kept getting loose and falling off anyway.

I found I adjusted how much a was Mansplaying as well. My OCD wouldn't let me chafe the fabric on the speaker any longer. I would have to "touch up" the speaker fabric with a wet chamois, every time I washed the vehicle because there were always rub marks.
