It's fine, except for the giant iPad nailed to the middle of the dashboard. That is definitely not perfect styling!

I cringed when I first saw the "tacked-on" infotainment unit. It didn't take long though to become accustomed to it. It's still not my favorite integration of an infotainment unit, but it doesn't bother me anymore.

Actually, my initial reaction to the entire Mach-E interior was one of disappointment. It's not a bad interior; it's just, I think, my expectations were very high. I was expecting to see nicer materials and overall fit and finish.

After living with my Mach-E for about a year now, I'm totally fine with the interior, with a few minor exceptions. It's not perfect, but totally livable.

Agree. I wished they'd made it nicer, but it's adequate. I've even gotten accustomed to the center iPad, but it's just such a stupid design. Copied from stupid Tesla.

Yeah, I liked the integrated look of my old Fusion Energi’s screen. As was said, I got used to the tacked-on screen, but I would prefer it integrated into the dashboard design. Oh, well. It gives me somewhere to stick my MagSafe charger. ?‍?

Two points here: the "tacked-on iPad" design has a similar utility to aircraft avionics: you have an edge to grab to stabilize your thumb (or whatever finger you prefer) to make screen inputs. Negated to some extent by some features being disabled while in motion. Obviously, airplanes don't disable anything while in flight. But as a pilot, I'm warm to that look and design. Doesn't look "tacked-on" to me.

The other point (a question, actually) is about the charge port. I thought Ford and other EV lines were going to change the CCS configuration to the Tesla standard. Or has that happened already?

Ford has not changed its charge port from CCS-1 to the Tesla port. The conjecture is that (for the Mach-E at least) it will happen when the generational change happens. According to Ford, the generational change will happen “late 2026” (which really means a 2027 model year car). Ford has not said that this will be when they change the main battery charging port. ??

This is not Ford related, so hopefully the admin in charge doesn't ban me (LOL) but modern aircraft panels are mostly flat screens now, Garmin puts raised edges around the screen, so you can stabilize your hand when conditions are turbulent.

The architecture and chassis haven't changed but improvements over four years add up to a big cumulative difference between MYs 2021 and 2025:

- New rear motor (from the F150) adds 24 hp (+7%) and improves range (4wd models)
- 12% cumulative increase in range (4wd models)
- Ventilated seats
- Huge advances in blue cruise capability
- Improved suspension
- Relocated shifter provides more storage space between the two front seats
- Significant price reduction (MY25 price reduced by over $3k alone). My '22 stickered in the mid-60's and a new '25 costs way less - especially on a lease deal.
- Frequent, free OTA software upgrades

On paper these and other improvements really add up. I am not normally a big Ford booster but the lease on my '22 Premium 4wd is up in July and I will definitely consider getting another one.

So I am interested to see what comes of this groups work.

I think the Skunkworks project is focused on a flexible platform for smaller, more affordable cars, perhaps not the Mach-e. Forgot to add a heat pump to the list of improvements since ‘21

And the Mach-e is built on a dedicated EC platform. My hunch is the next gen Mach e will have higher charge speeds and maybe accommodate solid state batteries to extend range.

In other news … I just saw a Mach-E here in Dearborn but It was making a left turn in front of me … and I noticed the front turn signals are now “segmented”. E.g. on both my Mach-E’s the turn signals light up and then fade away from inside to outside in a nice fluid motion. This Mach-E turn signals just had 3 segments and switched off one segment at a time. (Maybe that’s how it works on the Select edition). I’ve never actually seen that before as every time I’m near a Mach-E (and I see a LOT of them) the turn signals are the same as on my cars.

Is this a new change or has the Select trim always been this way?

My '24 Premium front signals seem to be "segmented" as you describe, so I guess that is somehow a cost savings on the '24s? Since that's how the OG rear sequential signals work on my '70 Cougar I thought it was normal...

Ford decided to install the new “Tri-Bar Headlights” on all trims for 2024, as opposed to the earlier years where the Selects got one headlight type and the Premium and GT got another type. The added volume of these lights likely makes a cost savings on the higher trim acts and maybe a small increase in cost on the Select (pure conjecture on my part since I haven’t seen Ford’s books on it but a relatively educated guess as an electro-mechanical engineer). ??

Retired pilot here. I agree with your iPad like comments.

Native NACS ports are apparently coming with model update/refresh in 2027? 2026? The question is whether they’ll end up on the left rear or right front. I personally would vs prefer right front but others will prefer the left rear.
