I thought they pushed an OTA that resolved this issue.

I recently rented a Tesla for two weeks while my Fusion was being repaired and can confirm this 100%. I would be driving on an empty highway (autopilot/any type of cruise control NOT engaged) and the car would start freaking out and breaking for no reason....do you think it can see ghost?

The radar detects large stationary metal objects, like bridge overpasses, manhole covers, etc. I've only had it happen once in 2 years, so it's not an issue on my Model Y.

According to the article:
Our Model Y, delivered in August of 2021, was produced quite soon after Tesla took the curious decision to remove radar sensors from the Models 3 and Y. Ostensibly this was because the optical sensor-based Tesla Vision system was so good the radar sensors are unnecessary. I'm inclined to disagree.

It's on the vision-only cars that don't have radar. Tesla will fix it eventually, but in the meantime the phantom braking is freaking drivers out.

This happened at times on my 2019 Model 3 when I first got it in 2020. I never took long trips on autopilot as the software was updated, so I'm not sure if that was improved, but I assume so.

I was hearing about Tesla's phantom braking long before they went radar-less. Of course, dropping the radars could have made things worse.
