When I go to shut off the car I get a question asking me if I want motion sensors to remain on or off. Is that the alarm? How does that work?

It's for the sensors inside the vehicle. If you want someone to remain sitting in your car after shutting it off and leaving with the key, you need to shut it off.
My alarm went off once when my wife lagged behind in the car. I went into the house and the alarm sounded shortly thereafter.

The setting to turn motion sensors Off does not stick. It will revert back to On each time you restart the car. It is a bug. For the past few months, Ford has been promising a “Q2 OTA Update” that will fix bugs causing settings not to stick. Today is the last day of Q2.

Also, if you make the mistake of locking your car with the windows down, perhaps when the car is parked in your garage, the alarm will be triggered if you even walk too closely past a window. Kids set of off, dogs set it off, and your own shadow will set it off. Best to turn them Off. Except that you currently have to do that every time before exiting the vehicle.

Or you can put some tape over the sensor like I did. The good news is that electrical tape is available right now at your local store - you don’t have to wait for Q_ 202_ for an OTA update.

Does it need to be in your profile to stick?

Nope. Profiles don’t fix the bug of certain settings not sticking. Another fun one is the infotainment screen will revert from Dark to Auto about once a week or so. Some audio settings don’t stick.

I M a dog orner, so the alarm goes on very often when I leave the dog in the car. Can you tell me the exact location of the motion sensor. I already bought tape. Thanks

Theres a small lens - looks like a little button, to the left of kinda where the rearview mirror attaches.

Car prompts you to turn them off. And you want to put tape in a $60,000 car?

Yes. I’d rather do that than have that stupid prompt pop up, and have to tap it, every time I turn off the car. All because Ford can’t fix the simplest of bugs.

Is it the sensor ?

No, that's the temp sensor. Uncover that. The motion sensors are behind the 3 grilles in the top console near the map lights, there's a left center and right sensor.

There should be a choice in alarm settings, that will say “ask on exit” . You will not get the question if you select no. But, if you like to leave your dog in the car, the alarm will be triggere.
