Summary:
As posted back in November 2023, my second HVBJB broke. Now the car bricked itself again when it was comfy and charging at the home charger (L2), making it the third HVBJB that broke (technically the first one was changed in a callback, then the replacement broke and now the replacement of the replacement broke).

Context:
Back in November my car was stuck for two weeks to get a new HVBJB, and it was said by two dealers (it had to be at two places due to lack of availability on the first one) that it was the new part. Whether both dealers are full of nothing or if it’s the “new” part is hard to say.

The car is an extended range RWD with 80 000 km on the odometer. Guess I will have to get used to shuffle through the HVBJBs regularly… oh and I have fast charged only like 20 times over the two years and I have no full throttle actions.

Peace out while I go out and scream at the clouds.

Well on the bright side, dealers not really knowing what they're talking about seems to be a global issue and not really local to any one location.

Hehe true. I really hope (while still a bit mad that they said it was the new part) that it actually was an old part. If it is the new part (production) and that died, then we are royally F’d.

Out of curiosity, is the diagnosis of the HVBJB from the dealer, or because you got messages that said HVB issue? I have seen a few other posts after L2 charging, and it wasn't the HVBJB but an issue with the car and L2 chargers where some fault happens. I think someone said they cleared it by hitting the hazard button three times. Someone else may have more experience from it. But I don't know how the HVBJB could fail from L2 charging.

Didn’t get those details last time, or an actual paper at all. Will see if I can get that when I go down to them tomorrow

It was hardbricked, couldn’t do anything to get the car into anything else then towing mode (we did try jumping the 12v / resetting it without any luck). The symptoms were that the charge port was red and ford app said it was an vehicle charging error; started the car and the rave party of sounds and icons told me I was in for a third ride.

Check out Paul Lidel’s song Scream Therapy on Spotify. Good rocking song! It will make you feel better. ???

I just got my second HVBJB with only 9k on the clock. They wouldn’t give me the third generation part. So I had to take a remanufactured 2nd gen version for my GT. ?

I’m now a part of the HVBJB beta testers club right?

Also wondering. They need to supply that to the owner and should have the paper work on it. Tell them to PDF it and e-send it now? Better that way you can print it out any time.

I was not able to get the actual paper, but a mechanic told me it was the old (bad) part that was put in in November. It seems that Norway will get a shipment of the V 3.0 versions in March / April 2024. They are trying to use the backways to force Ford's hand to send the V 3.0 before that, otherwise I will have to have a renter for several months.

On L2 and 12V dies so the contact is stuck open? Is this how the first two happened while hooked to L2? How long was it sitting for before noting it died.

I bet you guys wait even longer for revisions than here; bummer. Me too heavy metal on the tractor does it, screaming rock at the clouds ;), still curious of actual part number over there now not sure about revisions.

The first one broke just by driving to the shop while this time it died while home charging sadly :/ No rime or reason as of why it decides (HVBJB) die.

Just to be clear, there are loads of 3rd gen HVBJB parts available in Houston TX which is within 2 hours of my Ford dealership, but because I am not a part of the recall 23S56 then I could not get the new part even though I had a repair. The SSSC (whatever that is) is controlling the distribution of these parts very tightly till (I’m guessing) the recall cars get taken care of. So, I told the dealership and ford customer service I see then within the year for round two. In the meantime I having a great time trying to burn it out again with all 600 lb-ft of torque. ?
