New app - no BEV remote start?

Press the big fan button.

It doesn’t start car nor can u control how long it runs. Useless option IMHO

Humm ... isn't a remote start on a BEV just the climate controls ... which is the fan icon ?

No! Remote start is running vehicle and any settings that may have been on. The fan does not accomplish anything. Ford Pass couldn’t even explain how that feature truly operates. How long what it does etc

This thread is a great example of how @Ford Motor Company totally screwed up this new release. EVERYONE calls it REMOTE START. FORD called it REMOTE START. Then, some idiot, or some committee, changed it to CLIMATE.

This is closely followed by launching a feature called BlueCruise, which was handsfree driving, then deciding to incorporate all assisted driving under the name.

Next would be launching Charge Assist, and then renaming it to Public Charging.

You can't make this stuff up, can you? Even their own reps can't follow the illogic.

Amen! Exactly my point!! Imagine rep telling me I needed to reinstall app to obtain slide to start option that isn’t available?! Nor can they say why it was removed!

Because needing to turn on your CLIMATE for your dog isn't intuitive to hit the CLIMATE button....

I used guide dog as an example that I believe drives home my personal point and issue. We also used to have ability to do other things called scheduling of pre start times and climate controls. Those of us in winter climates appreciated those features too. Those have also been eliminated per rep I spoke. Only bc I asked for some kind of work around to my personal situation.
We all know a doctor appt can take forever! So if I need to leave her in car for any extended period of time, the prior app allowed me to know car running and climate control active. I had ability to restart car when it timed out. Even if fan provides climate, I cannot see if it’s still operating or not. That does not help me in my personal situation. For me, it is a reason I purchased not one, but 2 of these vehicles. Being disabled, I have specific needs the Mache fulfilled. Sadly this is now a real prob for me. And, reduces independence I’ve fought to have.

Yeah, it's just the fan button. We have a Mach-e and an F-150 PowerBoost and the screens look just like the representations OP provided. The slide is appreciated since I don't want to accidentally start my truck in a garage, but the MME you don't care so it's just turning on climate.

Exactly and how do I know how long that is running? What exactly is “fan”? Ford Pass couldn’t tell me if that means AC in 80-90 degree summer temps. In previous version u press and hold to start. I never found any instance where I accidentally started car. But it does time out, unless I extended time during run session. No real risk of it endlessly running. I’d monitor thru app as needed.

Hmmm, my version of FordPass (of which I got a new beta version in the last couple of days) on iPhone doesn't have the slide to start, it has a "Start" button in the upper right corner, but ONLY when the car is plugged in. Otherwise, I only have the Climate button, which shows whether it is plugged in or not.

I'm still not sure what the difference is between the two. It's not like you're starting up the electric motors. Maybe the "Start" button when it's plugged in is doing battery conditioning?

As I replied to another post, what is “fan”? No one seems to know OR how long that runs? Prior app gave me ability to know car on and any features, AC, heat, radio etc operate as if you’ve pressed brake and started vehicle. Then I could monitor that run time and either extend of let end and then initiate a restart if necessary.
Irrespective of whether feature avail when plugged in that doesn’t help my personal situation. I will check if I see start button when plugged in. I haven’t looked for that. Nor did Ford Pass know or ask if I’d checked that.

If you mean departure times, it’s still there under energy, departure times. Only things removed are the trip planner, warranty info and i think something else. The fan on the app controls the remote start now the setting of which are set up in the car.

I did mean departure times. I guess it’s pretty sad rep didn’t know right answer and worse I trusted it was correct information ? thank you for bringing to my attention! I didn’t even bother to look!

Don’t know how hard it would be for you, but maybe you could just run a little test in the garage or in the driveway. Turn on the the fan icon and see what happens and for how long.

I tried the big fan button just now. Went to the car and the fan was blowing. I started the display and the AC indicator was not lit. The air was cool which could be from just being in a cool garage. App says it stays on for 10 minutes with option to add more time.

Yes the fan is the remote start, if you think about it, EV’s dont “start the engine” they just start the climate that you set on the big screen under remote start settings. Hitting the fan on the app is the same as remote start. It starts what climate settings You have set.

(and yes unfortunately ford cus service often gives wrong info. Its usually better to ask here, some good experts here)

And the new ones lets you turn on the climate, know how long it’s running, and let you extend it.

Pretty much every other feature you have stated is also still in the application.

You just have to hit the button….

I guess your dog won’t have the radio to listen to.

The new Ford pass failed to turn on the AC but it showed the AC was on. These happened more than 50% of the time. If my pet was in the car, she would have been dead. It has been over 100F in TX. Hey @Ford Motor Company ! This is very dangerous. This has to be fixed ASAP!

Ford pass also did not allow to turn on the AC more than 30 minutes.

Don’t know how hard it would be for you, but maybe you could just run a little test in the garage or in the driveway. Turn on the the fan icon and see what happens and for how long.

Good minds! I’m watching some Utube videos. I’m starting to believe fan = preset climate runs. I just haven’t figured out for how long and if I know when it’s turned off.
