I have no idea how the battery shield attaches or if there will be a gap between it and the battery, hopefully we can get an install guide and photos to figure that out. But I don't think that's ever going to be worth $3,000 to me.

Spec sheet didn't work, if you could share a link that would be appreciated. IIRC polyethylene foam is more rigid and may have trouble conforming to the irregularities on the bottom of the pack? I was thinking more in terms of NBR/PVC foam. I'd love to try that on my car, but I don't think it will be feasible for me to install anything right now with the current weather and my lack of lift. My main concern with the foam is getting proper adhesion and not trapping water under it.
This is the link: Closed-Cell Foams | Foam Factory, Inc. Foam Factory out of Macomb, Michigan. 2lb cross linked polyethylene Sheet 72 by 48 inches by 3/8 inch thick. Use of the #M Super 77 spray adhesive to hold it in place. It is likely this material could also be used with screw/washer and nut.

I hope Ford or someone releases an insulation panel with similar bolt on design. This was exactly what I submitted to Ford as a request for an "extreme weather kit" insulated panel for the bottom of the batteries.

I didn't think there was any difference between the lower portion of the battery enclosure between standard range and extended range. As far as I knew, the only difference was the rearward bump on top to accommodate the extra 2 modules.

Can anyone confirm that there is actually a difference in the underside of the SR vs ER battery enclosures? because this Battery protector expressly states it will not fit the SR battery.

@AOSK release your own affordable version that has a thin layer of thermal insulation built in?
Yes. Ford Performance has gone silent since I asked again for dimensions, graphs, photos and installation instructions. Might go to the dealer next month to see if more details can be squeezed out.

Let me know if you manage to get any info. Really interested.

Another notable. In releasing this kit, Ford has confirmed it is warranty safe to add additional covering layers/thermal barriers (within reason) to the bottom of the battery tray. We all already knew this since it's a liquid cooled system that's thermally managed and not an air cooled design like the nissan leaf, but now this is case and point for all the nay sayers who kept thinking the bottom of the battery was designed to be a radiator. As so many qualified engineers have stated before, you want to thermally isolate the battery from the outside environment (both hot and cold) so the liquid thermal management system can do its thing as efficiently as possible.

They need to use the shield for their incompetent shippers!

Will check with a local dealer in February. Someone must have connections with one of the featured Third party vendors on this site who likely could do the same thing cheaper. I found Tesla owner doing just this back in 2019 and this owner also insulated the frunk hoses with DIY pipe insulation from Home Depot.

Based on the foam buffering strips, it doesn’t look like any real room for insulation.

Trapped air is a great insulator though (like a double pane window). Wouldn't a gasket around the edge sealing it up be as effective as foam?

If you blow-up the image it appears there is depth between the raised foam buffering strips in which thin insulation can be fitted.

Jim Beaver (built the "LiveWire Mach-E Rally) is posting some content about the battery shield:

Sounds like a full installation video will be up shortly
