Washed my 23 GT for the first time today and noticed the shield just below the driver side spring is bent. I looked at the other side and it’s fine. Has anyone seen this on a new Mach E?

Bent or two different parts?
That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Looks like the same part but I have no idea if one is shaped differently on the driver side intentionally.

I'm wondering if one is from a different year or model.
You can see a rubber bushing of some sort that fits in the one on the passenger side and is sitting up above the one on the driver side. I’m wondering if that was not installed properly and maybe spring compression pushed it into that metal plate and bent it. Would just like to see if anyone else’s look like that.

It’s not a shield. It’s the lower spring seat, or named something like that.
It’s usually part of the shock.

Looks bent to me!

Though mine’s a 2021 car, mine are same as your straight one both sides, there’s no reason for that part to be shaped like that, it’s the lower spring seat which is made of pressed steel and forms part of the suspension strut.

Appears to have become damaged. Possibly by the spring transport inserts not taken out properly or at all?

I’d be having that wheel off and looking at the inner tyrewall/shoulder area because whatever caused that may have become trapped between that part and the tyre.

my guess is one of these guys got wrapped around the spring seat and got tightened down and bent.

It is definitely bent. It should look exactly the same as the passenger side. While I doubt it will cause an issue while driving the car, I would still have it replaced. You are running stock size tires right now but if you ever decided to go up one or two sizes you will have a problem with that bent lower spring perch hitting the tread on the tire.

If theres no paint damage it was bent before assembly. That's a very hard piece to bend, more so right there while installed on the car.
