I wonder if it’s not controlled by the app but Ford’s servers. Sort of like how car updates are rolled out and you just need to wait for your number in the lottery.I updated to 6.7.0 last night when I saw this, but the Ford CarPlay app still didn't have these new features.
I think this will eventually allows us to have Tesla like Gimmicks in the future courtesy of Apple. Rumors are Apple TV is also coming to CarPlay for those Charging Stops....
Wild guess. It probably could require a fair amount of what battery energy remains to get a very cold or hot battery into the optimal temperature range when the car is preconditioned. But once there I’d bet that very little energy would be consumed by holding it at that temperature. So your should be able to set your destination in Apple or Google Maps and get a fairly decent estimate of when to push the PRECONDITION NOW button. As long as it is pressed before the estimated time span there is not much of a penalty energy wise to pay. No higher math would be required.Heck, I'd even take a medium or small precondition button! I'd even be happy with just a "precondition upon arrival" button that would automatically decide if it's needed and make sure things are preconditioned for a specific destination or waypoint. That way I don't have to worry about the charger being in the system. I don't really want to have to worry about figuring out when the best time to hit the button would be.
Be sure to use the Feedback button in car and ask Ford to enable CarPlay video streaming.I’d love that feature, but I’m worried Ford won’t do their part. At least not for older models like my ‘21.
Please Ford???
It took a few days for anything to appear in mine. Initially, all I saw was the coming soon message. I looked again yesterday and had the basic information shown by the op. Seeing tire pressure there is a bit silly considering I have a tile for that, so I’m interested in seeing where this really goes.I updated to 6.7.0 last night when I saw this, but the Ford CarPlay app still didn't have these new features.
I think Tevye is yelling into the void. As the Mach-E, or at least our version of it, will have only one generation, Ford has spent all the energy it ever will on new features. I expect a future coder/tinkerer will have aftermarket modules that will expand capabilities.Pictures himself as Tevye yelling from the roof "Preconditiooooon - Precondition. . . . . Precondition!!!" @Ford Motor Company
