My late build 2022 just get this today. I don't have the HVAC update nor the 10.0 series updates. Just the GWM ECG .1 OTA a few weeks ago.

Like the new Ford app update, hate my '21 ain't getting any love with the OTA updates since June 2024 so no HVAC update to take advantage of the climate controls SMH. Still love the car though, so no biggie.

If your HVAC module does not have latest software, it might not work. It would have to be updated manually with FDRS.

This is becoming the conspiracy theory.
Some have it, others don’t.
Some have the HVAC update, some don’t.
It’s not related to the newer 5.7.0 Ford pass software.
Will we every find what dependency causes this new climate feature to appear ?

All I know is it didn't show up for me until I updated that module. You're one version behind me. That might be new enough. It's possible you got some behind-the-scenes configuration update that allowed it to work. Some people might require some combination of OTAs before it shows up.

There’s no such thing as remote starting an EV. It’s holdover terminology from ICE days. The start feature in older versions of FordPass simply started the climate control in the car, same as the fan button does now.

Are you aware of any 2021 J1s that have that module update available to them? It hasn't come up for me when I've checked (or asked others to check).

Since your profile says you have a 2024, you will get the OTA update if you don’t already have that revision level. 2021s seem to be on OTA hold so those cars will not get this or any other update via OTA for a while. ??

There is no conspiracy. Lots of stuff is related to software levels. This particular feature seems to be related to the level of software in the HVAC module. As a guess, there is probably new code that allows Ford’s servers to change the temperature levels in the climate control system. The FordPass app likely queries the servers as to whether this option should exist (i.e. Can the server issue the commands to change the climate levels remotely and will the car do it?) and changes its display as a result of what the servers tell it. ??

They way this should work IMO is an override of what the car chooses to do automatically. For example if its cold out it turns on heated seats and wheel automatically. Those options should be selected on app and you can turn them off on app if you don't want them on.

I don't understand what it is doing currently lol. Anyone else?

I still believe there's a server side switch for this feature and it's "rolled out" transparently. You won't see what the trigger was, but simply have the controls suddenly rendering in FordPass.
