I have had 7 failures to update sine June 7th. I did receive the "Fast Charge" update; but 7 failures since. I'd like the Parking Brake Update; I pretty much use the parking brake as I dislike the amount of sway after parking.

'22 Select AWD. I have 4.2.6 and still have to select parking brake manually after rotating to park.

Please note- the “brake” light does not illuminate on the dash unless you lift the parking brake switch, however, if your radio is off you can hear the parking brake engage when the knob is rotated into “P”.

Unless your car is one that this change doesn't seem to have affected.

Mine doesn't engage automatically, yet and I'm fully updated with FDRS. When I do use it, it'll only disengage if you release it manually or if you touch the accelerator in both 2PD and 1PD.
Same.

What I saw even before all recent updates, is that sometimes ePark gets automatically engaged if it was manually engaged on a previous stop, i.e. I used it on the inclined driveway, and when I go into the garage, it gets engaged automatically.

Yes… when the feature is enabled.
Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows to not use the “illuminated” brake indicator on the screen to see if the brake is actually engaged.

Ok thanks for this! I did notice no rollback, but thought the pawl might have been in perfect mesh. I will try it out again tonight.

I'm one of those people who engages the parking brake manually every time I park the car. OP is right; since the latest updates, I hear the parking brake engage by itself as soon as I put the gear selector in Park. Select 2022 RWD. No brake warning light in the dashboard.

I'm fully updated and I don't have this "feature" if that's what you want to call it. Although I never put the car in park either - I just turn it off. I haven't touched a parking brake on flat land since the last time I drove a stick.

When you put it off-the car engaged park automatically. I am curious if you hear the parking break actuators engage when that happens. That would be the same function.

Yes, I'm aware that the car goes into park on it's own. My Audi's have done that going back 8 years or so now. I haven't heard the parking brake and today I tested it because of this thread and nothing.

I even put the car in park using the shifter, creeping, completely stopped etc and nothing got it to trigger. I got bounce from the paw when creeping. The only time I've seen this behavior is when the door is opened while the car is still on.

I'm honestly wondering if you're hearing something else. I don't think they would ever intentionally engage the parking brakes without notifying on the dash and I don't think that's even possible to do based on the logic. Since you say there's no indicator light, I would be inclined to think that you're hearing something else or it's a bug.

100% certain it is the parking brake. If I then pull the parking brake the light “illuminates” and I hear it makes a slight sound as it is already engaged. I can also tell because of how the car moves or does not move if the brake is or is not engaged. I think because my first car was a stick and all of my cars were stick until getting our first EV in 1999 I always set the parking brake, on a hill or flat ground. On cars that automatically set the brake I think I would often just turn it off and let the car do both.

I also have had an electronic brake on cars since 1994. On some cars I have just pressed the power button as you indicated, but because the MME has NOT set the brake I typically set the brake first and then put it in park before turning off the car.

I do agree with you it is odd the light does not “illuminate” but I am 100% certain the brake now engaged when I rotate the knob to park. I had just “complained” to Ford on May 12th asking for this feature. I am not saying they did it because I asked…I am saying I have been wanting this feature.

I'm going to go on the line and say this "feature" that you say you have is likely an unintentional bug if it's really the parking brake. That would also explain why it's only for some vehicles.

Perhaps-but that is why I reached out to others. Some seem to have it, others do not. I agree it is odd…but I am certain what my car is doing.

I also agree with Garbone….It is likely getting ready for the delete feature of the Parking Pawl that is coming to future MME production.

I'm not bashing on you. I just don't think whatever is happening is intended. That's just my belief. Either one of us could be right/wrong. The fact that there's no indicator makes me feel like it's almost guaranteed to be a bug.

As far as deletion of the paw, I haven't seen where that's a thing yet for Ford. Tesla and Rivian both apply the parking brake instead of using a paw or other mechanical lock on the transmission so I could see Ford doing that at some time. I know it was discussed in one of Munro's videos but when or if that happens we don't know yet.
