@boltonmackem to update, I've just done a 86 mile journey to my Mum's with the car fully charged from earlier (although I hadn't pre-conditioned as an unplanned journey), car now on 64% so used 36%, the in car miles/kwh was 3.1 on the journey and the car range dropped from 203 to 121. Temp was 7C leaving to 2C arriving and I had the heater on Auto at 1 set to 21.5C. IMO you should be getting near that with your car. Might be worth re-setting your driving history (even though there isn't much of it)
Same journey in the spring/summer used 27-31%, so not a massive fall-off.

What do you set your climate at? I average about 1.8 mi/kWh here in Alaska during winter. I keep the temp at 68 and fan speed at 5 and seat at lowest setting. If I were going for distance I may set cabin lower. Many use Auto setting but I have been unable to keep from fogging up in Auto so my climate is set to manual. There is a large thread with cold weather strategies.

FYI fan at 5 will waste a lot of heat. Try to keep it 3 or less. That’s why using the AUTO setting limits the fan speed.

Have you have the latest HVAC update that addresses fogging? Mine will still fog occasionally, but only for about 30 seconds before it goes away automatically.

On the rare case it fogs up and doesn’t clear soon afterwards, I use defrost for a minute before switching back to AUTO.

First of all, congratulations.

Second, don’t freak out if you are. I think what you’re seeing is somewhat normal.

It’s the winter time and it has a massive impact on range as you already know. I also suggest that you ignore the range you’re getting for the first 1000 miles of your driving on a new car. Charge up to 100 and run it down to 5 and do this a couple of times to calibrate the battery. Never go below 10 and above 90 for daily driving. Minimize fast charging and rely on level 2 chargers as much as you can for daily commutes.

Another thing that takes a toll on the range is hard acceleration. Make sure that most of your driving (especially in winters) is kept under 70 mph and no hard acceleration off the lights. Save it for summers. Drive like other gas cars do. And again, did I say slow down?

Always heat up the cabin while the car is still plugged in, before you leave home for your daily commute. If you work in an office that has a charger in the lot, plug it in for 10 mins before you depart to heat the car up again. Unfortunately Mach E doesn’t have a heat pump (I could be wrong), so it will never do “well” in cold harsh weather conditions. You can only try to minimize the impact.

Also, use seat warmer and steering warmer (if you have it) liberally. Of course, don’t freeze inside, so never ever sacrifice your comfort. When using heat, switch off the A/C button.

Great advice. Thanks

Best thing with these cars is to assume around 80% of manufacturers claimed range in Summer and 50% in Winter. This means with an ER RWD with 373 claimed range it will be about 290-310 miles in Summer and about 180-200 in The winter. This is what I get in my car. Although I have had a full charge only lasting 150 miles once.

RWD SR = 292 miles
AWD ER = 341 miles
RWD ER = 372 miles
AWD GT = 304 miles

none say 310

I will give that a fan speed a try and see how that works. My experience with Auto; however, is basically car fogs almost instantly. Very unsafe. I believe I have the latest climate updates and gave Auto another try as winter set in but it once again failed epically. Things are fine with manual control and I will give the lower fan speed a try but I am skeptical on its effectiveness. My car stays warm and clear at the 5 speed but I will see if 3 improves things.

Ah, I see you are in Scotland. The WLTP range is always going to be way higher (and unrealistic unless you drive 55 MPH or 88 KPH).
does Scotland have different figures from the rest of the UK?

but yeah I wouldn’t expect those figures that’s why I said 80% of that range

No, I was looking at USA figures. I hadn't realized I wandered into a UK discussion group :)
