You are talking about home charger and I just recently purchased an Emporia Charger . Works well in conjunction with Ford App. The charger supplies 40 amp with plug at 48 amps hard wired. My Mach e is 2022 came with the mobile
charger . Started having issues as it would start charging then 15 minutes into the charge cycle I see an amber light and the kw goes to 3 kw.i
I see now it is option to buy the mobile charge. My advice is DONT. So I have this charger that is failed while under warrant. So I called 5 dealership to set.an appointment. Easy right you would say but not one has the plug 14-50 in their shop to test the charger!!!
I did call Ford Customer support and was given the same Dealership’s that I have already called. So the ford mobile charger is POS but I would like to work as a backup.
BTW I did call a dealer that has mobile service but they said no because my plug could be the issue. Then I ask if they had a 14-50 plug and said sorry but no.

Welcome to the forum. The custom plates you have are close in dimensions to the US ones. If you want to get rid of the long plate holders, you might be able to find replacements from the US that most likely offer a better fit.

Congratulations again and welcome!

Welcome to the club! I miss Australia and Melbourne specifically. I lived there for a year and a half in 2007-8 for work. We had a great time. Lived in South Yarra.
Also great choice on the color! I still think rapid red is the best.

Thanks to everyone for your response - @Jimrpa in particular you are kinda correct - standard plates are as shown below - this is actually plate of my Lexus NX350 F Sport that MACH-E is replacing - but our State Registration Authority VIC ROADS has a CUSTOM PLATE site where you can design your own plates (with restrictions obviously).

Reminds me of the old UK style of plate.

Here is what we get in my state for a customized EV plate.

Tony M from Melbourne Australia here fellow MACH-E-ites - on Friday December 22 I took possession of a RED MACH-E Premium - FORD Australia say it was 1st MACH-E delivered to an Australian Customer although I cannot verify that.

I am based in Melbourne Victoria - hoping to pick up some great intel as I follow this forum.

I have only driven 300kms so far but OMG this vehicle has knocked my socks off. Currently in process of finding a Type 2 home charger - not sure if other forum members could share advice as which brand to target.

I will also add a pic or 2 to show the rego plates I secured - might grow in value some day - who knows - anyways happy New Year to all and I am really looking forward to being part of the forum.

I love Melbourne. I’m sad I won’t be working the Australian Open this year or I’d suggest a meetup.
Welcome to the family, and don’t listen too much to the naysayers. Every vehicle has its pluses and minuses - but it’s fun to drive nonetheless.

Does this mean you’re one of the first to drive a Mach E upside down?

@GreaseMonkey thanks a million for suggestion re US plate holders - I would love to source some - amazing that when I went to collect vehicle the first thing that struck me was 'WOW those plater holders look a bit agricultural'.

I mentioned it to dealer staff who just shrugged their shoulders but as this was first MACH-E they had delivered that was understandable.

Thanks so much for your responses - YES we are very proud of our Australian Open each year and where it sits in International Tennis.

And how good is that entire sports precinct right smack bang in middle of city - totally the envy of the other majors.

Speaking of Sth Yarra and Australian Open tennis the players just love coming to Melbourne each year - well except for Novax that is whose sorry arse we booted 2 years ago.

Anyways back to the real players - Serena, Venus, Andre, Maria indeed all of them just loved how they could set up camp in Sth Yarra / Prahran / Richmond etc and walk the streets Chapel St / Bridge Rd etc as normal human beings - yes many would recognize and acknowledge them but those areas so multicultural 80% of the pop had no idea who they were - for a couple weeks they could stroll around uninterrupted basically

Bit of background - I had this MACH-E on order since 18/03/2021. I contacted Ford Australia at that time when I heard a whisper that they might be bringing the MACH-E to Australia - they suggested I contact Bayford in Epping Victoria which I did.

I told them I just want to place an order so I get first dibs if they do ever arrive in Australia - $500 fully refundable deposit got me first slot on waitlist.

I was born into a professional transport family / business and I always wanted a Mustang but I just could not bring myself to purchase a rumbling V8 that would deliver 5 gallons to the mile (Fuel efficient vehicles paramount in transport business).

Fast forward many years and in March 1999 I imported the first ever commercial shipment of Electric Bicycles to Australia and pioneered that industry. Til today we are the largest independent Importer / Distributor of Electric Bicycles up against all the big boys Giant, Merida, Specialized, Kalkhoff etc

It was a logical extension that I would purchase an electric vehicle when the right one came along - TESLA (yawn) - BYD (saw plenty in China and maybe) - LEXUS (have purchased my first and last Lexus) - so along comes MACH-E BINGO this is what I must have.

Early May 2023 Ford offically announced MACH-E coming to Australia and customers could place official Order and reserve a unit which I did and paid up another $1,000 deposit.

On November 17 2023 Bayford called me and said 'Great news Tony - we have demo MACH-E coming to our dealership next week so you can come test drive?'

My response was 'Sorry but next weekend is the one weekend of the year where myself and my 10 sisters get together for our annual siblings get together so no can do.

On December 13 Bayford called me again and said 'Great news - we have your RED Premium MACH-E ready to deliver to you next week'. After some to and fro between myself and Bayford accounts team who were not that keen on accepting $100K payment via Credit Card (miles miles miles) but we eventually got there and I collected new MACH-E at midday on December 22.

Before collection I had never driven one before but I did have a ride in one - I arrived into Amsterdam Airport on October 25 2023 and headed to taxi rank - lo and behold the taxi I got was a Black MACE-E - pretty cool I thought.
Wow! And I thought 6 months was long wait! Congrats! You picked the right colour! ;)

It is interesting to move the PlugShare map to Oz, select it under country, and select the different types of plugs. It shows some J-1772 chargers, but there are way more Type 2. I assume the CCS/SAE is based on Type 2. There are Tesla Superchargers and Destination chargers, but not as much coverage away from urban areas. I did a Sydney to Perth trip in ABRP and it is possible with a 4h30m charge session in a Caravan Park included. There are big gaps in the outback. Currently an EV would be very limited in Darwin. Unfortunately we have a few like areas in the US with limited or no fast charging.

I am a shortwave listener and used to listen to Radio Australia on 9580 kHZ mornings until it was shutdown by the ABC. I have also enjoyed some great comedy from Oz over the years.
