Tony M from Melbourne Australia here fellow MACH-E-ites - on Friday December 22 I took possession of a RED MACH-E Premium - FORD Australia say it was 1st MACH-E delivered to an Australian Customer although I cannot verify that.

I am based in Melbourne Victoria - hoping to pick up some great intel as I follow this forum.

I have only driven 300kms so far but OMG this vehicle has knocked my socks off. Currently in process of finding a Type 2 home charger - not sure if other forum members could share advice as which brand to target.

I will also add a pic or 2 to show the rego plates I secured - might grow in value some day - who knows - anyways happy New Year to all and I am really looking forward to being part of the forum.

The Mach E is supposed to be my wife's car but I drive as often as I can.

But the car I love is my Australian Mini Moke.
It was Born in Australia -- Florida -- Virginia -- Hawaii --Virginia
Right hand drive, left hand gear shift and it gets smiles whenever I drive it.

Welcome and you'll enjoy the Mach E.

Loving mine, vapour blue Mach-E Select in Brisbane.
Q: seems that there are NO OTA updates yet in Australia, ie, not at all enabled by Ford as yet [?]
Anyone here have any other experiences with that & wondering if & when they might be coming (seeing as there have suddenly been many of these for US owners in the last couple of weeks).

Wow, that's awesome! A new continent! Now @Administrator can add an Australasia section in the Regional Forums. ;)

Congrats, @Tony M OZ. I think your vehicle has the same Mennekes + CCS Type 2 setup that's used in Europe? If so, you may want to post a question in the Europe or UK subforums to see what people recommend. I think Australian power outlets aren't the same though, so keep that in mind, and your AC voltage is 240 instead of 230 (Europe). So your best bet is a product specifically designed for the Australian market. @ARK's recommendation for a Tesla wall plug is probably best.
Interesting to see different implementations of MME features in different regions, eg, in the UK apparently in the UK there is no walkaway lock due to local regulations …

In any case, Australian & New Zealand owners should be aware that there are NO OTA updates in those countries, (citing cybersecurity concerns). And so allllll of those comments about OTAs in the US do not apply. Ford in Australia seem cagy and unclear about this, but let’s just say that an owner needs to really jump up and down to get updates at the dealership (takes a while, costs the dealership in time and manpower). eg

My one month old 2023 MME Select proved to be buggy in several areas: the dealership took the car and found it needed 16 updates and took three days to apply (26 man-hours apparently). Why these updates were not applied - either at import, or at dealership arrival, or at sale - is anybody’s guess, but overall seems very unclear here. In my case, it would seem that the dealership are now trying to bill Ford AU for the work under warranty.

It is interesting to move the PlugShare map to Oz, select it under country, and select the different types of plugs. It shows some J-1772 chargers, but there are way more Type 2. I assume the CCS/SAE is based on Type 2. There are Tesla Superchargers and Destination chargers, but not as much coverage away from urban areas. I did a Sydney to Perth trip in ABRP and it is possible with a 4h30m charge session in a Caravan Park included. There are big gaps in the outback. Currently an EV would be very limited in Darwin. Unfortunately we have a few like areas in the US with limited or no fast charging.

I am a shortwave listener and used to listen to Radio Australia on 9580 kHZ mornings until it was shutdown by the ABC. I have also enjoyed some great comedy from Oz over the years.
Have been using Plugshare in AU for around five years now and on my previous EVs as well as my new MME. Works very very well & is my go to for distance travelling. CCS2 and the rest, just set the filters. Just like the rest of the world, there is no NCAS /Tesla adapter bs here, just plug in.
