Just received mine in the mail today! I'm hoping I'll have a chance tomorrow to install them.

Hey McSquashy, do you plan on connecting the fronts to the rears like the OP did or to the headlights? If the headlights, could you share which wires you tapped into? That would be great.

Thanks!

Josh and Orr, not sure if you are aware how the headlamps work but it's not like older cars where you have individual wires going to the headlamp assembly. On this car (and many others in the last few years) you have full time power and BUS signals coming from the BCM and headlamp control module going to the LED module on the back of the headlamp. The LED module takes these signals from the BCM and HCM and sends voltage to the proper lights inside the headlamp assembly (high beam, low beam, DRL, turn signal, side markers). So there is not a wire in the front you can "tap" into to power the front side marker lights when the rears come on unless you take apart the headlamp assembly.

Hello Mark, thank you for the information. I ended up removing the frunk panels to take a look at what was down there and I saw what you were referring to. I reached out to EV-Vida and they sell a set of marker lights for front and rear, with the rears plug-in-play and the fronts including a wiring harness to make them plug-and-play as well. I purchased the marker lights from another source and wiring these front markers to this EV-Vida harness looked pretty straight forward. They confirmed this and was going to sell me just the harness separately.

However, after a few days with the rear markers connected, I decided to remove them and reinstall the OEMs. They were just too bright. I didn't like the look at all. Looking at a couple of videos of the front markers installed, they also had the same very bright illumination, so I decided to shelve this project altogether. As always, thank you again for the info.

Thanks for the info, Mark.

I haven't had much of a chance to do anything with my Mach-E since I got them in the mail.

I did look at them, however, and was surprised to see two wiring harnesses. I assumed that they're for the fronts as the rears should plug right into the stock harness.

Orr, I'm bummed to hear that you weren't happy with the look of your new markers. I'll be sure to follow up with my impressions once I get around to installing them.

Yeah, I'm bummed too. The red color hue doesn't match the tail lights either, which I expected, which is ok. It's a little on the yellowy side to me. I could live w/that. But it was just the brightness. They're brighter than the taillights (though not brighter than when the brakes are applied). Just didn't do it for me, but I'm sure I'm in the small minority. They're probably fine for most people. Hopefully they're good for you.

Wow, those do seem uneccesarily bright!

Reminds me of when I changed out the plate lights on my Subaru with Led light fixtures.?

Those are bright license plate lights! Could be a search & rescue spotlight ?

Again, for me these lights were a tad too bright, but they could be fine for you, and I imagine most people. It's purely an aesthetic decision ?

Hey fellas! So based on what I have experienced 2021-2023 there is a wire for the turn signal you can connect to.

2024+ seems that it relies on can bus because it has sequential turning (pretty neat). If you dare you can connect to the sequential via BCM pin 65 for right flash and pin 6 for left.

Or just wire it to the low beams to turn on with low beams which is Pin 1.

Did you end up installing them? How did you like them?

No, unfortunately I haven't gotten around to it yet. If we ever get a break from the rain, I may try to install them this weekend.

I haven’t yet, but funny enough I was just thinking about the side markers the other day—along with my Eibach sway bars that have been sitting in the garage for over a year.

With the weather looking decent this weekend and not much on my schedule, I might finally get around to installing them.🤞

So it took a hot minute, but I finally got around to swapping out the side markers this week. Well, actually only the rears. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to install the fronts as they're not meant to light up anyway.

I do like how they look lit up, but dang are they bright! A bit too bright. I need to live with them a little longer before deciding whether or not to keep them.

Edit: I wonder if tinted overlays would tone down the brightness enough. 🤔 I may have to place an order for some and give it a try.
