No sound from cross traffic system

I've owned my 2013 MachE X Premium for one month. The cross traffic system is on but it does not warn of vehicles or people walking behind in parking lots. It is also silent when you put on the turn signal and a car is in the blind spot, although the mirror warning does work. Any ideas? Thanks

I think the cross traffic alert (mine always works, even after OTAs) turns on every time you start the MME. See pg. 236 in manual.
I think a dealer might be able (but not very willing) to permanently turn it off (or one of our more knowledgeable tech. forum members may know how to do it).
Is yours new or used?

Fat fingers. 2023. My goal is NOT to turn it off, but to have it work. In parking lots we're always lower than the SUV in the next slot and we get no alerts when backing and someone walks or drives behind us.

Dealership suggested the vehicle needed a software update. Once updated, the system works fine and gives audio and visual alerts when backing in parking lots and cross-traffic is present.

I’m not aware of audio alerts from Ford’s BLIS (which enables cross-traffic and blind spot alert systems) on any Ford vehicle. The forward collision mitigation system (which includes pedestrian detection) absolutely will make a tone as well as displaying a prominent alert on the IP.

When backing out of a driveway or parking space, I definitely get an audible warning of cross traffic.

Cross traffic alert does beep at you (when you're backing up). It's always been like that.

BLIS for changing lanes does not beep on Fords, only the orange light in the mirror. On other car brands BLIS does beep when changing lanes, but Ford didn't give us that option.

You are correct. My bad. Both systems use the rear radar modules.

While the blind spot alert on the mirror doesn't make an audible noise, the cross traffic alert certainly does.

CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT INDICATORS

When the cross traffic alert detects an approaching vehicle, a tone sounds, a warning lamp
illuminates in the relevant exterior mirror and arrows appear in the information display to show which side the vehicle is approaching from.
