If your dashcam has an impact sensor for accident detection then a solid mounting surface to the frame or windshield is best. Mounting to plastics will not transmit the vibrations from the impacts very well.

I've got https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B099K58H4R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and install it in my wife's CR-V for now, and I had to set the sensitivity to lowest level or it treated some hard stops as accidents.

Still not sure if I want to transfer it to Mach-E, or even keep the camera - there are a couple of things that I don't like about it. First of all, there is a reflection from the windshield that gets into the video, and reflection from the mirror is getting over the view of the rear camera in the mirror, so I had to disable it or adjust the mirror not to see, or reduce, the natural reflection. And I have some issues seeing the recordings on my computers (they are very clear in the mirror itself), I guess I need to upgrade my computers now!
