This thread makes me wonder why there is still a plague of scratch and fingerprint prone shiny piano back trim all over every product, inside and out. When will this madness end? And if this third party can seemingly figure out how to fix it, why can't Ford and others? I'd just assume they went back to durable matte black finishes.

I pushed the order button on the glossy last night... was an excuse to get the screen protectors anyway since I've decided after 2K+ miles I did want one. (I have one in the Fusion, so I should have known I'd need one here. ?)

we'll see if I'm able to apply any of these things remotely correctly when then arrive.

I just ordered the gloss black as well. I love their matte screen protectors that I put on the big screen and drivers cluster!! It's a great mod!

daytime photos show the end result much better. And some of my mistakes. Best to do this in bright daylight.

Is this the gloss or matte one? Also if your pillar already has marks and stuff, is it worth buying this? Or did you keep yours pristine before applying it.

Had my PPF installer do all 6 pillars and inside bottom door jams as part of deal.

I think I'll do the same!

I bought glossy. And you can see in my “before photo” on the first post that my door pillars were very “swirled” but didn’t have any rock chips or anything.

Oh! Now I get it! Screen protectors for door pillars. I was late to the party. I never knew. Now I have to see if my door pillars are scratched. I always thought they used gorilla glass or something.

I’m pretty sure if you try polishing that cheap plastic you’ll just take the finish off it. I’d be interested to see someone try though.

A plastic scratch remover product or even certain car polishes work ok on this area. The shiny area around the bottom of the car, and lower rear bumper, will be a grit collector and may eventually be harder to keep looking good.

I polished mine to a near perfect mirror finish. It came scratched to hell from the dealer. Used a Torq 10FX random orbital polisher with a 3" pad. It was tough to get the bottom perfect due to the door handle.
